Best Brawlers for Open Maps in Brawl Stars
If a map is wide open with barely any walls, that’s exactly when long-range brawlers take over the entire game. Here are the brawlers built to dominate open maps, and where they fall apart the moment the map gets tight.
Why map type changes who’s strong
Most brawler rankings, including our own, are based on overall win rate averaged across every map in rotation. That number is useful, but it hides a lot of nuance, since a brawler can struggle on average while dominating a specific map type.
Wide-open maps are exactly that kind of exception. A couple of brawlers below currently sit lower on our live Tier List than you’d expect from this list, and that’s not a contradiction, it just means their strength depends heavily on having room to work with.
Check our Maps page for the current rotation and which brawlers are recommended on each map specifically.
Here’s the full list:
- Mandy
- Piper
- Colt
- Angelo
- Brock
- Bea
Mandy

She’s built entirely around staying still and letting her range do the work. The longer she stays stationary, the further she can hit.
On a map with nothing blocking her sightline, that range turns Mandy into a genuine threat across almost the entire map.
Piper

Her damage actually increases the farther away her target is, so an open map is the best possible environment for her. She can poke from a distance most brawlers can’t even reach back at.
Her Super gives Piper a way out the moment someone finally closes the gap.
Colt

His bullets travel in a straight line, and on an open map, that’s rarely a problem, because there’s nothing around to block the shot before it lands.
Give Colt a clear lane and he can control the entire space in front of him.
Angelo

His attack rewards charging up before you fire, and that takes a bit of breathing room to pull off safely. Open maps give Angelo exactly that space to charge without getting rushed down before the shot goes off.
Brock

His rockets already travel a long way, and on a wide map, there’s nothing stopping that rocket from reaching all the way across. He also doesn’t need cover to fight from, which most maps built around walls actually take away from him.
That makes Brock one of the most map-dependent picks on this list, in the best possible way.
Bea

Her attack gets stronger with every hit that lands, and open maps make it a lot easier to land that first shot consistently, since there’s nowhere for the enemy to break her sightline.
That consistency is exactly why Bea belongs on this list.
Match your pick to the map
So that’s six brawlers built for exactly this kind of map. The moment you drop them onto a map packed with walls and bushes, a lot of that advantage disappears.
Pick your brawler based on the map you’re actually playing, not just your favorite.
FAQ
Does this ranking match these brawlers’ overall Tier List standing?
Not exactly. Piper and Colt currently sit lower on the overall Tier List than this list might suggest, since that number averages performance across every map, while this list is specifically about wide-open maps.
What should I do on a bush-heavy map instead?
Switch to a close-range pick. Brawlers like Shelly, Bull, and Leon thrive on bush-heavy maps for the exact opposite reason these six struggle there, so check our guide on bush-heavy map brawlers for the full list.
Which of these brawlers performs best overall, not just on open maps?
Angelo and Mandy currently hold up best across the board, both sitting in the upper half of the live Tier List even outside of ideal map conditions.
Does this ranking change with balance updates?
Yes, both overall win rate and map-specific performance shift with balance patches. Check our Tier List for the current numbers and our Maps page for which brawlers are recommended on each map.
