How to Enable the Compass in Battlefield 6

If you’ve been playing the Battlefield 6 multiplayer and find yourself confused by directional callouts, you’re not alone. In Battlefield 6 the compass is disabled by default, but turning it on is a simple fix that will dramatically improve your situational awareness. This guide will show you exactly how to enable it and how to use it effectively.

Why You Need to Enable the Compass

In the heat of battle, you’ll often hear your in-game narrator make crucial directional callouts like, “Enemy Sniper to your East,” or “Tracking Enemy Heavy armor to your North.” Without a compass, these warnings are confusing and difficult to act on. By enabling the compass, you’ll get a clear visual reference at the top-middle of your screen, allowing you to instantly orient yourself and react to these threats.

How to Enable the Compass in Settings

Enabling the compass only takes a moment. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the main Settings menu.
  2. Navigate to the Graphics tab on the left.
  3. Scroll down and click the Advanced HUD SettingsMODIFY.
  4. Scroll down to find the Infantry Compass option.
  5. Toggle the Show Compass Multiplayer setting from “OFF” to “ON”.

Here’s how to find Advanced HUD Settings in “GRAPHICS” Section:

Within Advanced HUD Settings you need to scroll down to the Infantry Compass section:

Using the Battlefield 6 Compass Effectively

The compass isn’t just about navigation — it’s also a valuable intel tool. Enemy icons will appear when they’re spotted or making noise, along with small triangles that indicate elevation:

  • Triangle pointing up = enemy is above you.
  • Triangle pointing down = enemy is below you.

Pay attention to these markers and you can react faster, especially in vertical maps with rooftops, hills, and multi-level buildings.

If you want to take your teamplay to the next level, try using compass bearings in your callouts (“Sniper at 85 degrees!”) rather than vague directions. It’s faster, clearer, and avoids the “Wait, where?!” confusion in the middle of a fight.

We hope this guide helps you improve your situational awareness in Battlefield 6. For more news and guides, check out our Battlefield 6 Section or join our community Discord to squad up with other players.
