Where Winds Meet GVG Guide: Strategy Tips from a Top 100 Guild
Ultimate GVG Strategy Guide for Where Winds Meet
Guild vs. Guild (GVG) in Where Winds Meet is a complex mode that blends MOBA mechanics with large-scale Wuxia combat. Based on the experience of a Top 100 EU guild, winning requires more than just killing the enemy team; it requires controlling the map, securing specific buffs, and mastering the unique “duel” mechanic.
The Objectives and Game Flow
The primary goal in GVG is to destroy the enemy towers and ultimately defeat the “Goose” (the main boss/core). However, simply rushing down the middle lane is often a losing strategy. The map features side alleys populated by AI mobs. Defeating these mobs grants your team “Green Points,” which are essential for purchasing game-breaking buffs. These buffs include massive increases in movement speed, healing reduction debuffs to use on enemies, and a 100% damage increase against towers.

To control these objectives, you should split your raid roster. The recommended composition involves sending the main force to the middle while assigning two “Flex Groups” to the side lanes. These Flex Groups are responsible for farming the AI mobs to secure points and harassing the enemy backline. Classes like Twin Blades or Strategic Sword are excellent for these Flex roles because they excel at hunting healers, while Nameless Swords and Tanks should anchor the main fight in the middle.

The Critical 10-Minute Duel
One of the most unique and important mechanics in GVG occurs at the 10-minute mark. A 1v1 duel is initiated, and your guild must send its strongest duelist to compete. Winning this duel is often the turning point of the match because it applies a devastating debuff to the enemy team. If you win, the enemy Goose suffers a 20% defense reduction, and their towers lose 60% of their HP.

Because the stakes are so high, you cannot afford to send a random player. You need a dedicated “Duelist” in your roster—typically a Nameless Sword user due to their high damage and shielding capabilities—who is specifically prepared for this moment. While the duel is happening, the rest of the guild watches the duel.

Meta Skills and Weapons
In the current GVG meta, Crowd Control (CC) and survivability are king. The absolute best Mystic Skill you can bring is Lion’s Roar (The Bell). It provides damage reduction and “Tenacity” (anti-stagger) to the user, but more importantly, it silences enemies in a large area. A silenced enemy cannot use skills or escape, making them an easy target for your team to wipe out.

For weapon choices, the Nameless Sword is highly valued not just for damage, but for its special ability on the ‘Z’ key, which provides a massive shield to the raid. This shield can negate significant incoming Chi damage. Conversely, the Twin Blade’s special ability is a hard counter to the enemy sustain, as it applies a “Nullify Healing” effect. If you coordinate a Twin Blade user to pop this skill at the same time a Mo Blade user uses their vacuum ability, you can wipe an entire enemy group instantly because they cannot be healed.

Preparation and Buffs
Victory begins before you even enter the battlefield. Every member of the guild should visit the Bathhouse in Kyong to acquire the long-duration endurance buff. This reduces the stamina cost for sprinting and dodging, which is vital for surviving long skirmishes. Additionally, players should craft and consume the “Double Shreds” food for a flat damage increase and use scrolls that boost movement speed or reduce dodge costs.

Summary
To win in GVG, you need a balanced composition with around 6 to 8 healers and 4 tanks. You must control the side lanes with Flex Groups to buy buffs, win the 10-minute duel to cripple the enemy defenses, and coordinate your “Lion’s Roar” and anti-heal ultimates to wipe the enemy team during big clashes.
