Strategic Sword and Spear Bleed Build Guide

This guide covers the “Strategic Sword and Heaven Quaker Spear” build. Ulfhednar shared with us why this is currently considered the “King of PvE DPS” in Where Winds Meet.

It is a very efficient build. It focuses on stacking “Bleed” effects on the enemy and triggering “Affinity” procs for high burst damage. If you like seeing a lot of numbers pop up on the screen without having to press too many buttons, this might be for you.

The Weapons and Concept

You will be using the Strategic Sword as your main weapon and the Heaven Quaker Spear as your secondary.

The concept is simple: The Strategic Sword applies bleeds. The Spear provides heavy burst damage. When you combine them with specific passive skills that react to damage-over-time effects, the output is very high.

The Rotation

The rotation is a strict loop. You should try to follow this order to maximize your damage output.

  1. Strategic Sword ‘Q’: Start with your sword skill to initiate.
  2. Spear ‘Q’: Switch to the spear and use its skill immediately.
  3. Spear Charge: Hold the heavy attack button with the Spear to perform a charged attack. This does significant damage.
  4. Strategic Sword ‘R’ (Inner Balance): Switch back to the sword and use the ‘R’ skill.
  5. Repeat: Go back to step 1.
Rotation

If you mess up the rotation or get knocked back, you can use your Mystic Skills to reset yourself or close the gap.

Inner Skills (Passives)

The passive skills are the engine of this build. You need to select ones that enhance your bleed effects.

Inner Skills or Passives
  • Fivefold Bleed: This is mandatory. It applies a bleed Damage-over-Time (DoT) effect. Later on, when you have enough pages, you might replace this with “Insightful Strike,” but for now, stick with Fivefold Bleed.
  • Sword Horizon: This is the class-specific passive. It creates a large explosion if the target has 5 stacks of bleed. Since this build applies bleed constantly, you will trigger this often.
  • Moral Chant: This provides Physical Damage Penetration. It is a solid stat boost for almost any build.

Mystic Skills

You should use three specific Mystic Skills to weave into your rotation.

Mystic Skills
  1. Soaring Spin: This is excellent for closing the gap if the boss moves away. It also deals decent damage.
  2. Fire Breath: A strong fire attack.
  3. Drunken Poet: Use this immediately after Fire Breath.
    • The Combo: If you use Drunken Poet on a target affected by Fire Breath, it causes explosions.
    • Tech: You can animation-cancel the Drunken Poet skill by pressing block/parry to make it faster.

Gear Sets and Stats

Your gear choice is important. You want to mix two sets to get specific bonuses.

Gear sets
  • Left Side (Hawking Set): This set is based on Affinity. It increases your physical damage when you trigger an Affinity proc.
  • Right Side (Eagle Rise Set): This set offers damage reduction and synergizes with Damage-over-Time effects (like your bleed).

Stat Priority: When tuning your gear, you should look for these stats in this order:

  1. Affinity: This is your most important stat. The build relies on Affinity procs.
  2. Bell Strike: This is the specific stat associated with the “Blue” element weapons (Sword and Spear).
  3. Precision: This is your accuracy. You need to hit the boss to damage it.
  4. Physical Attack: Higher base damage is always good.

Summary

That is the build. You apply bleeds with the sword, you hit hard with the spear, and you prioritize Affinity on your gear. It performs very well in raids.
