Where to Find the Differential Microphone in ARC Raiders
The best place to find the Differential Microphone in ARC Raiders is the kitchen at the top left of the Observatory on Pendola Pass. You need it to upgrade your Research Station, and it is a Rare Technological and Electrical item.
The team here at MetaForge has run this route on Pendola Pass in ARC Raiders, and this guide covers the path in, the loot to grab, and how to extract safely.
Differential Microphone Location on Pendola Pass
Of the places we have searched on Pendola Pass, the kitchen and eating area at the top left of the Observatory has produced the Differential Microphone most consistently. In our runs, the room usually holds at least one microphone, and we have found up to three in a single raid.
Pendola Pass is the new map added in the Frozen Trail update, and Embark’s Frozen Trail preview lists an observatory among its landmarks.
The room holds lockers, sofas, a kitchen counter, and drawers, so start with the drawers and counter, which is where the microphone turned up in our run.

What to Prepare Before You go to Pendola Pass
Unlock the Outpost first, then pack a mobility gadget before you queue for Pendola Pass. The Outpost gives you access to the Research Station, and a
Grappling Hook or
Snap Hook gets you into the Observatory room faster while avoiding most of the ARC on the main route.
The Outpost unlocks by completing a project, and its first step, Research Topside Living Conditions, requires a photo of a farmland house. You can buy the camera from Shani, craft it at the Workbench, or find it Topside.
You can bring any loadout you are comfortable with. The table below covers the two gadgets that make the Observatory room quicker to reach.
| Gadget | Confirmed details | Role on this route |
|---|---|---|
| Snap Hook | Range of 18m, durability use of 4% per use, power cost of 60, and no immediate back-to-back uses | Burst mobility into the Observatory room |
| Grappling Hook | Lets you climb hard to reach spots, abseil off buildings, and swing over large gaps, with stats TBC | Traversal up to the room |
Equip one of these gadgets before you queue, then follow the route below.

How to Reach the Observatory Kitchen
You reach the kitchen by heading to the top left of the Observatory and either climbing the main stairs or using a gadget to skip them. The steps below follow the path we ran, starting from a spawn on the opposite end of the map.
- Travel to the Observatory: Head to the Observatory on Pendola Pass. Our spawn was on the opposite side of the map, so the run was long.
- Find the kitchen side: Move to the top left of the building, where the kitchen and eating area sit.
- Take the main stairs if you must: Climb the first stairway and the next flight, which is the main way into the Observatory. This route brings a
Shredder and other ARC, and the delay gives other squads time to arrive and loot. - Use a gadget instead: Use a Grappling Hook or Snap Hook to enter the room directly, which is why we usually skip the stairs.
- Go through the door: Enter the room, where parts of the building may already be looted.
- Search the kitchen first: Check the counter and drawers, since the looters before us skipped the kitchen.

What to Loot in the Observatory Kitchen
The kitchen holds more than the Differential Microphone, and several of its items counted toward our Outpost and Research Station upgrades. In our run, the counter and drawers gave us the loot listed below, so it is worth searching every container before you leave the room.
- Laser Level: Lying on the counter in plain view.
Adrenaline Shot: Plentiful in this area, so restock here if you are short.- Steel Cable: Found several times during the search, and needed for the Outpost.
- Calculator and research books: Both were items we needed for upgrades.
- Thermal Shaker: Another item we needed.
Take what you need for your Outpost and Research Station upgrades, then move the microphone into your safe pocket.

How to Secure the Differential Microphone
Move the Differential Microphone into your safe pocket as soon as you pick it up, then head straight for the extract. A safe pocket item stays with you if you die, so you leave the raid with it even if you lose the rest of your kit.
After you extract, unload your stash and run the route again for the remaining microphones. We repeated this loop for the ones we still needed.
Hypothetical Example: Imagine you need three microphones and find one on your first visit. You move it into your safe pocket, extract, and unload it before queuing again, so it stays secure whatever happens on your second raid.

Why the Differential Microphone Spawn can Change Between Raids
Pendola Pass uses a Dynamic Loot Zone system, so the loot value of some areas changes between raids. Embark describes it as a test that is currently exclusive to Pendola Pass, and zones keep their inherent loot type, so a raid can roll more or less value.
A visit can therefore come up empty, so queue again if the kitchen has nothing for you. Check theARC Raiders Event Timers for active map conditions first, though timers are estimates and do not guarantee an identical raid.

Other Places to Check on Pendola Pass
The Observatory kitchen is the only location we have confirmed ourselves, and our item database lists no precise location data yet. If the kitchen comes up empty, the spots below are unverified, so treat each one as TBC until we confirm it in-game and add it here.
Scout these areas on the ARC Raiders Interactive Map before you queue, though results are estimates and do not guarantee an identical outcome.
- Railyard, Almatera Station, and Railroad Junction (TBC): Pendola Pass areas we have not yet searched for this item.
- Supermarket (TBC): Embark’s preview names a supermarket on Pendola Pass, though we have not confirmed microphone spawns there.
- Storm huts during Flash Freeze (TBC): Our map page mentions flash freezes on Pendola Pass, but Embark’s map conditions page does not list Flash Freeze, so any tactic around it is unconfirmed.

What the Differential Microphone is Used For
The Differential Microphone is a material for upgrading your Research Station, and our item database lists a requirement of 3 for Research Station Level 3. Hold on to every microphone you find, because recycling or selling one early can leave you short of the requirement.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Rare |
| Category | Technological, Electrical |
| Sell value | 1,000 Raider Coins |
| Recycles into | 1 |
Hypothetical Example: Imagine you hold three microphones and recycle one for 1 Speaker Component and 2 Wires. You would then be one short of the 3 the upgrade asks for, so you would need another trip to Pendola Pass.

Bring Three Differential Microphones Back to Your Research Station
You can now queue for Pendola Pass in ARC Raiders with a clear plan: head to the Observatory kitchen, search the counter and drawers, move each microphone into your safe pocket, and extract. Repeat that run until you hold three microphones.
Spend them at the Research Station, then check which materials the upgrade still needs and plan your next Pendola Pass kit around them.
FAQs
Can you buy the Differential Microphone in ARC Raiders instead of farming it?
Yes. The Differential Microphone can be traded in ARC Raiders through Seed Trades and Barter Trades on the Marketplace. The microphone’s price changes over time, so check the current 24-hour median before deciding whether buying one is cheaper than making another trip to Pendola Pass.
How many Differential Microphones fit in one stack in ARC Raiders?
One stack holds 3 Differential Microphones, and each microphone weighs 0.5 kg, so a full stack adds 1.5 kg to your load. The Frozen Trail update notes set the stash maximum at 328 slots, excluding Expedition rewards and acquired Nomadic Envoy space, so three microphones take little room.
Does the Differential Microphone spawn on maps other than Pendola Pass?
Pendola Pass is the only ARC Raiders map where MetaForge has found the Differential Microphone so far. The MetaForge item page lists the item as Technological and Electrical but gives no confirmed drop locations yet, so any other map stays TBC until we verify it in our own raids.
What did the Frozen Trail update change about the Snap Hook?
The Frozen Trail update reduced the Snap Hook’s range from 20m to 18m, raised its durability use from 2% to 4% per use, and raised its power cost from 50 to 60. Embark made the changes to separate the Snap Hook from the Grappling Hook as a burst mobility gadget.
Are there known issues on Pendola Pass that affect the route to the Observatory?
Embark lists various clipping and collision issues on Pendola Pass, and vaulting onto some steep surfaces can occasionally cause you to slide back down. Allow extra time if you climb up to the Observatory by hand, and use a Grappling Hook or Snap Hook on the steepest sections instead.
