ArcheAge Chronicles

Choosing a server in ArcheAge Chronicles takes a few seconds, but you'll be stuck with it for a long time. Your server choice is permanent for the whole of Early Access: there are no server transfers and no cross-server play, so you and your friends have to pick the same server from day one.

This guide lists every server location available at launch, explains how the server system works, and helps you choose the right one whether you play solo, with friends or with a guild. For maps, items and builds, see MetaForge's ArcheAge Chronicles hub.

The Short Answer

  • Playing solo? Pick the server closest to where you live. Low ping matters a lot in an action combat game.

  • Playing with friends? Agree on one server before you make your characters. Everyone must be on the same server to party up.

  • Joining a guild? Find out which server the guild is on first.

  • Don't rush it: you can't move your character later during Early Access, which runs for about 9 to 12 months.

All ArcheAge Chronicles Server Locations

These are the Early Access server locations XLGAMES announced ahead of launch on November 3, 2026:

  • North America: US East (Virginia) and US West (Oregon)

  • South America: Brazil (São Paulo). XLGAMES added it after player feedback.

  • Europe: EU West (Frankfurt)

  • Asia: Singapore (also added after feedback), Hong Kong and Seoul

  • Oceania: No server at launch

The game suggests a region based on your location, and XLGAMES has made the region labels clearer than they were in the demo. You can still pick a different one, so check it before you make a character.

Why Your Server Choice Matters

No server transfers during Early Access

Once your character is on a server, it stays there. XLGAMES has said it may review server transfers in the future, but nothing is promised. If you pick the wrong server, your only option is to start a new character on another one.

No cross-server play

You can only group, trade and run content with players on your server. If one friend picks US East and another picks EU West, they can't play together, even if both own the game.

Your one-time rewards stay put

The pre-order bonus outfit can only be claimed once and is bound to the character that claims it. Claim it on the character and server you plan to stick with.

How Servers, Channels and PvP Fit Together

Inside each server, the world is split into channels of about 100 players per zone. Channels work differently from servers:

  • Parties stay together. A party of up to 4 players stays together across zones, and you can switch channels to join friends.

  • Peace and Conflict channels. PvP is not tied to your server. Peace channels have no PvP. In Conflict channels, anyone outside your party or guild can attack you. You switch at a Nui Statue once you leave the first town, and there's a cooldown so you can't escape mid-fight.

  • Parties work in both. Invites work in Peace and Conflict channels, and your party stays together when you switch.

So you don't need to pick a "PvP server" or a "PvE server". Every server has both, and you choose per session.

Which Server Should You Pick?

Ping matters more here than in many MMOs. ArcheAge Chronicles uses real-time action combat where dodges, parries and counters depend on timing, so a laggy connection makes the game noticeably harder. Here's a quick guide by where you live:

  • Eastern US and Canada: US East (Virginia)

  • Western US and Canada: US West (Oregon)

  • Central US: Either US server works. Pick the one your friends are on.

  • Brazil and South America: Brazil (São Paulo)

  • Mexico and Central America: Usually one of the US servers, depending on which gives you better ping

  • UK and Europe: EU West (Frankfurt)

  • Africa and the Middle East: EU West (Frankfurt) is usually the safest choice. Players in the Gulf may want to compare it with Singapore.

  • Southeast Asia and India: Singapore

  • Hong Kong, Taiwan and southern China: Hong Kong

  • Korea and Japan: Seoul

  • Australia and New Zealand: There's no Oceania server. Singapore is usually the closest option, with US West as the alternative. Compare both if your group is mixed.

If your group is spread out

  1. Agree before launch. Post the choice in your group chat or guild Discord so nobody makes a character on the wrong server.

  2. Favour the majority. If most of the group is in one region, pick that server. One player on high ping is usually better than everyone on medium ping.

  3. Consider who plays the most. If one player will put in far more hours, giving them the better connection can make sense.

  4. Think long term. Early Access lasts up to a year, so choose a server you're happy to play on for months.

Server FAQ

Can I change servers later?

Not during Early Access. Server selection is permanent, and transfers aren't planned. XLGAMES has only said it may look at transfers later.

Can I play with friends on another server?

No. There is no cross-server play, so everyone in your group needs to be on the same server.

Is there an Oceania server?

Not at launch. Players in Australia and New Zealand will need to use an Asian or US server.

Are there separate PvP and PvE servers?

No. PvP is handled with Peace and Conflict channels on every server, and you can switch between them at a Nui Statue.

Does my demo progress carry over?

No. Progress from the Steam Next Fest demo and earlier tests does not carry over, so everyone starts fresh in Early Access.

Is the game on consoles?

Not yet. Early Access is PC only on Steam. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have been announced, but there's no date.
