Black metal was most commonly used for armours, crossbows and swords. On occasion, it was used for a greataxe. The reason is not a pleasant one. They were almost exhaustively the tool of an executioner, when the crime merited a public execution. The black metal was a message: you have betrayed the Children of Shadows, and your death will come from the metal of our own.
