Rune Crossbow

Guard duty in Kuldra's Tower was a thankless task. Few could or would approach the tower, as inaccessible as it was. But the shifts were called and there was always a small group of crossbow-wielders posted to the entrance to the tower, waiting for the unlikely approach of an enemy.

But while it was boring, you still had to be on your toes. Kuldra's Tower was prone to crumble and breaking, particularly at the entrance where the guards were posted. Well-prepared guards would make their own grapple-bolts, coiled and ready by their feet. If their seat started to spiral away into the anima ether, they would socket the grapple-bolt and hope that their shot was good enough to find purchase in the rock. If not, well, they would find out what it feels like to anima-shift at a fatal rate.
