Jagex has announced a RuneScape animated series, produced by Lyrical Animation with creator Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White, with more details expected in 2027. No release date, platform, cast, or episode count has been announced, and the project is still at an early stage.

The reveal came at RuneFest in Birmingham, during RuneScape’s 25th anniversary year, and Jagex’s official series announcement is the source for the details below.

Who is Making the Series?

Lyrical Animation is producing the series, and White is attached through his company, Meatier Productions. Jagex’s announcement puts his reach at more than 25 million followers across his channels and approximately 145 million views each month.

It also cites YouTube videos averaging 1.8 million views and nightly livestreams averaging 15,000 viewers. If you follow his channels, those are likely places for news alongside Jagex’s own.

Why RuneScape Suits an Adaptation

RuneScape first released in 2001, and Jagex reports more than 300 million accounts created and more than $3 billion in lifetime revenue across its two main games. That gives a series a large body of characters, factions, and quests to draw from.

Jagex lists RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds as the games in the franchise. To see how much story one of them already holds, open the Dragonwilds quests guide and pick a region to start.

What Has Not Been Announced

The announcement does not include a release window, platform, cast, or episode count. The table below shows what is confirmed and what is still open.

What it Could Mean for Dragonwilds Players

Dragonwilds is part of the same franchise, so a successful series could bring new viewers into the game. Jagex has not said whether the series will reference Dragonwilds content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Jagex announce a new RuneScape game at the same event?

Yes. Jagex’s RuneFest 2026 recap says a fourth RuneScape MMO was revealed, built in Unreal Engine and still early in development.

What is coming to Dragonwilds after RuneFest?

The same recap lists Luminance, a prelude update, launching in December, with The Blood Crystal Saga kicking off in 2027. It also says official modding arrives on Dragonwilds in 2027 through a partnership with CurseForge.
