Runescape Dragonwilds

TL;DR: Update 0.12.1 went live on July 29, 2026, and it adds Agility as a full skill with six timed courses, Kebbit Burrow shortcuts, a double jump, an aerial dash, and the new Recall skill spell. It also moves Windstep out of Runecrafting, halves the stamina cost of jumping, adds Ascension Cores to the Mystic Forge, and ships The Great Body Robbery, the longest Secondary Quest in the game so far.

This is the last major content drop before the 1.0 launch, so the movement changes here are the ones you will carry into release. Our RuneScape: Dragonwilds hub has been updated to match, with the map and database changes broken down further below.

What changed at a glance

If you have been away since the Umbral Sands update, these are the values and systems that behave differently the moment you log in.

SystemBefore 0.12.1After 0.12.1

The jump stamina change is the one you will feel first. Jagex confirmed the drop from 20 to 10 in the 0.12.1 patch notes, and it applies before any Agility levels are factored in.

Agility is now a full skill

Agility is the headline addition, and it is built around repeatable timed courses rather than passive grinding. You gain XP every lap, and you also gain it passively just by running around Ashenfall.

Mounts do not count. If you want the passive XP, you need to be on foot.

Courses, medals, and capes

Six new stations have been added across Ashenfall, each marked with a flag you interact with to start a run. Each station holds a leaderboard of times and a fixed route of orbs to collect.

You can repeat a course as many times as you like to shave your time down. Completing courses grants rewards, and mastering one nets you a Gold Medal.

  • Gold Medals: Wall-mountable trophies that work the same way Pristine Fish do from Fishing.
  • Gilded trimmed capes: Mastering a region’s Agility course grants a gilded trimmed version of that region’s cape.
  • Leaderboards: Each station tracks times, so co-op groups can compete directly on the same route.

Example Scenario: You reach a course station in Brynmoor for the first time at Agility level 1. You interact with the flag, follow the orb trail on your first lap to learn the route, then reset and run it again immediately. The second lap is where you start posting a time worth beating, and every lap after that is pure XP regardless of whether you improve.

Agility passives

The skill tree leans heavily on passives that reduce the friction of moving around the world. These stack quietly rather than announcing themselves.

  • Sprint stamina: Sprinting costs progressively less stamina as your Agility level rises.
  • Carry weight: Levels 50 and 75 each grant a passive increase to maximum carry weight.
  • Fall damage: At higher levels you begin rolling out of falls to reduce the damage taken.

Fatal falls still kill you. Rolling reduces damage from survivable drops, it does not make you immune to a genuine cliff.

You can track every Agility perk as it is added in our Skills and Perks database.

Kebbit Burrow shortcuts

Agility Shortcuts use Kebbit Burrows scattered around the world. They appear as markers on your map, and you dig them up to open tunnels that cut across side routes.

At low Agility levels you can take damage failing to squeeze through. Be careful using a burrow as an escape route when you are already low on health.

Example Scenario: You are running back to base at roughly a quarter health after a bad fight in Ghornfell, and a Kebbit Burrow sits directly on your route. At low Agility, taking that shortcut risks the chip damage that finishes you off, so the longer surface route is the safer play until your level climbs.

New movement options and skill spells

The traversal additions are the part that changes how combat feels, not just how travel feels. You can jump, jump again in mid-air, then dash horizontally to reposition around an enemy.

  • Double jump: A second jump available in mid-air.
  • Aerial dash: A short horizontal dash for crossing small gaps and evading in combat.
  • Windstep: Moved from Runecrafting to Agility, and at higher levels it sends out an air blast on landing that knocks enemies down.
  • Recall: A new skill spell that places a runic marker, then teleports you back to it when recast.

Recall has one detail worth planning around. If you fall to your death while tethered, you teleport back to the marker instead and the tether is consumed.

The Great Body Robbery quest

The Great Body Robbery is the longest Secondary Quest Jagex has shipped so far, and it starts in Bloodblight Swamp. An experiment has gone badly wrong for Doctor Fenkenstrain, and you are the one cleaning it up.

The rewards are a new club weapon and a buildable decoration called the Pylon. The Pylon is functional rather than cosmetic, generating a radius around itself that intercepts lightning strikes.

That makes it the answer to building in storm-prone areas that previously punished you for it. New quest entries land in our quest database, and the club is being added to the Weapons and Tools database as its stats are confirmed in game.

Combat and movement improvements

Alongside Agility, 0.12.1 targets the specific friction points players have been raising since the Umbral Sands release. Most of these are quality-of-life rather than balance changes.

  • Ascension Cores: A new Mystic Forge feature that upgrades Masterwork and Vestige weapons to higher tiers using the relevant cores.
  • Radial hotwheel: Added for both controller and keyboard plus mouse, with a quick cast shortcut bound to either a spell or an item.
  • Ammo cycling: You can cycle through runes and arrows mid-combat instead of opening your inventory.
  • Jump stability: Fixes for losing the ability to jump under poor networking conditions.
  • Jump cost: Reduced to 10 stamina from 20, dropping further as Agility levels are reached.
  • Ledge forgiveness: A short window to jump after walking off a ledge rather than falling immediately.
  • Performance: Optimization work on fog, trees, grass, and the coastline, plus additional ambient VFX.

One interaction matters for existing builds. Leggings of Lightness, Mounts, and Windstep are each unaffected by the jump stamina change, so a mobility build you already run will not shift underneath you.

Visual fidelity pass in Brynmoor and Ghornfell

The starting regions have been given a dedicated pass focused on clarity and low-end performance. Trees look better at distance, and moss and fog are easier to read.

Grass and foliage now include more flowers, and performance at lower graphics settings has been improved. Night sky visuals, volumetric fog, and storm weather visuals have all been revisited, with extra ambient VFX added across the region and along the coastline.

Known issues to avoid

Two Power Level 7 issues are worth knowing before you waste farming time. Jagex has flagged both directly.

  • PL7 Shards: These do not exist in the world, but the recipe to convert PL7 Shards into Cores does exist in the Mystic Forge. This is unintentional and the recipe is being removed at 1.0.
  • PL7 Cores: These come only from the Nightmare Crucible directly. They cannot be obtained by converting shards.

If you have been hunting PL7 Shards because the Mystic Forge implies they exist, stop. The Nightmare Crucible is the only route.

Full 0.12.1 bug fix list

The fix list is long, so it is grouped below by what it affects.

Woodcutting and gathering

  • Axe damage: A misplaced decimal was causing Axes to deal incorrect damage to trees, which handed out disproportionate XP. Values have been reverted to their intended figures.
  • Axtral Projection: Upgrades no longer fail to chop down all intended and highlighted trees, and the skill now removes stumps correctly.
  • Splinter: No longer destroys tree stumps when used on an adjacent log, and now removes stumps as intended.
  • Yew Farming Plots: Now snap correctly in building mode.
  • Rune Vents: No longer appear full to clients in multiplayer worlds when they are actually depleted.
  • Miniaturized Mushrooms: Can now be gathered in the Dunes of Uzzer.
  • Desert Weed: Now has healthy growth stage assets when planted.
  • Wild Jade Vines: No longer die to poison in the Toxic Swamp.

Quests and progression

  • Saga of the Adventurer: The map search area for the quest step is now correctly aligned.
  • Contact!: The Chamber barrier is no longer invisible at very low, low, and medium graphics settings.
  • Zi Core: Collision no longer remains on the quest item after collection.
  • Shrimp Catcher: Completion now contributes to the Brynmoor Helper achievement.
  • Lagra, Alcarrid’s Butcher: Quest rewards now yield correctly when your inventory is full.

World, collision, and terrain

  • Burning Spire: Fixed a spot where players could fall through Lava, a rock surface that behaved like lava, and a location where players could get stuck.
  • Cave of Screams: The ground on top of it was missing collision.
  • Kalphite Queen Vault: The dunes behind the vault had missing collision.
  • Dunes of Uzzer: Removed a small invisible barrier that blocked pathing on foot.
  • Sand Dunes: Players can no longer walk under one specific dune.
  • Quicksand: Quicksand and its VFX no longer appear in areas that are not actually quicksand.
  • Umbral Sands: An Air Anima vent inside a pillar has been moved, and doorway torches are no longer unnaturally bright.
  • Kharidian Stairs: The Inner Corner 45 degree stairs are now climbable.
  • Bloodblight Swamp: A Sanguine Urn icon was incorrectly placed and has been corrected.
  • Lodestones: Teleports placed on the edges of the map now display on the map and work in both directions.

Combat and items

  • Kalphite Queen: No longer respawns invisible after being defeated, and the Sting Attack no longer becomes angulated.
  • Hammer Special Attack: No longer stunlocks Lesser Dragons.
  • Scorch: Shaded areas no longer let Scorch stack to 500 percent without triggering.
  • Fire Cape: No longer refills Stamina when the enemy is not afflicted with burns.
  • TokTz-Mej-Tal staff: Now consumes runes on attack.
  • Wizard Robes: Stamina no longer instantly regenerates after jumping with the full set equipped.
  • Ascension Cores: Now display correctly in the Mystic Forge crafting menu.
  • Velgar Arena: Lighting has been tweaked to improve visibility during night fights.
  • Blue Dragon: No longer incorrectly labeled as Lesser Blue Dragon.
  • Green Dragons: Flame attack VFX are now aligned to their mouths.
  • Yew Shortbow: Visual clutter when fully drawn back has been fixed.

UI, audio, and localization

  • Respawn location: Returning to the main menu after dying no longer respawns you at the location of death.
  • Potion effects: No longer removed between game sessions or on logout.
  • Game music: The looping issue introduced in Umbral Sands, mostly triggered on respawn, has been resolved.
  • Buddy: Summoning Buddy inside a wall no longer crashes the game.
  • Spellwheel: Now shows spell descriptions for clients in multiplayer worlds.
  • Controller camera: The Right Stick now turns the camera within a 30 percent radius in all contexts.
  • Item icons: Some items no longer display a white square placeholder.
  • Rapid Growth: The Skill Spell placeholder icon in the Spellbook has been replaced.
  • Bones to Peaches: Now states that the stack limit is capped at 10.
  • Skills Necklace: Interface description has been clarified.
  • Construction: Localized text for skill bonuses now displays correctly.
  • Korean subtitles: Now display correctly during the opening cutscene.
  • Fishing minigame: Keybinds can now be rebound.

  • Hall of Heroes: A Journal Entry typo has been corrected.
  • Menaphite Desert Cape: Now has its missing Journal Entry.

What we updated on MetaForge for 0.12.1

We pushed our own update alongside the patch so you are not running 0.12.1 content against a 0.12 map. The interactive Ashenfall map now carries the new Agility content, and the database has been refreshed to match.

  • Agility course stations: All six flag stations are pinned on the map.
  • Kebbit Burrow shortcuts: Burrow locations are mapped so you can plan routes around them before you dig.
  • The Great Body Robbery: Quest start and step locations are added, along with the Pylon and the new club weapon.
  • New creatures and NPCs: Additions are being folded into the Creatures and NPCs database as they are verified in game.

[TBC: confirm exact pin counts, layer names, and any premium features from the MetaForge map and database update post before publishing.]

If you would rather not alt-tab, the MetaForge overlay puts the map and recipes directly over your game window.

What to do first in 0.12.1

Agility gates a lot of the new comfort, so the fastest route to feeling the patch is to level it early. Running everywhere on foot instead of mounting up costs you nothing and generates passive XP while you do other things.

  • Bank early laps: Find one course station near your base and run it repeatedly before touching the others.
  • Leave Recall unlocked and unused: It only helps if you remember to place the marker before a risky pull.
  • Delay burrow shortcuts: Skip them at low Agility until the failure damage stops mattering.
  • Clear The Great Body Robbery: The Pylon unlocks storm-safe building, which changes where you can put a base.
