The 3 Best Mystic Skills You Need Early in Where Winds Meet

If you want to be competitive in Player versus Player (PvP) modes or maximize your damage against bosses, you cannot rely solely on your basic weapon attacks. You need to acquire specific Mystic Skills that provide utility and burst damage.

This guide was made by information shared by Ulfhednar. Some of these are hidden behind environmental puzzles or obscure mechanics, such as getting your character intoxicated. Here is the detailed walkthrough on how to find them.

1. Soaring Spin (The PvP Essential)

This skill is widely considered the most important ability for PvP combat. It applies a healing reduction debuff of up to 60% on your target, which makes it nearly impossible for enemies to sustain themselves during a fight. Additionally, it deals bonus damage to other players and serves as an excellent gap-closer.

Soaring Spin

How to Unlock It:

  1. Locate the Entrance: You need to travel to the Kaifeng region. Go to the bottom-left corner of the map, near the teleport landmark. You will find a cave entrance tucked away in the rock face.
Location
  1. Traverse the Cave: Enter the cave and follow the linear path. This section is quite long and requires you to climb multiple ladders and defeat several groups of enemies. Be sure to loot the chests along the way, as you will need keys found inside them to progress through locked doors.
  2. The Hidden Stronghold: Eventually, you will exit the cave and reach a building that acts as a hidden dungeon instance. You can choose to fight the enemies here, but it is faster to simply sprint past them if you are only interested in the skill.
  1. The Bell Puzzle: You will encounter a locked door that requires a specific interaction. Look for a large bell in the room. You must use your “Meridian Touch” ability on the bell to ring it, which will unlock the path forward.
Bell
  1. The Final Jump: In the final room, there are four enemies and a large statue in the center. Kill the enemies and climb the smaller statues on the side of the room to reach the roof beams.
Enemies to kill
  1. Capturing the Skill: This is the tricky part. You must jump from the roof beams down toward the head of the central statue. As you are falling or landing, you must press the ‘F’ key immediately to “capture” the skill. If you miss the timing, you will fall to the floor and have to climb back up to try again.

2. Dragon’s Breath (High Fire Damage)

Dragon’s Breath is a powerful offensive skill that spews fire at your enemies. It deals significant damage, but it has a slow startup animation where your character takes a drink before breathing fire. We will fix that slow animation with the third skill on this list.

Location

How to Unlock It:

  1. Start the Quest: Head to the central tower in Kaifeng City. You will see two disciples standing near the base. Talk to them, and they will give you a task to find a specific NPC.
NPC's
  1. Find the NPC: The quest marker will point you to a location that is usually in a straight line to the left of your spawn point. Travel there and look for a man standing near the wooden structures.
NPC Location
  1. Time of Day Requirement: This NPC has a specific schedule. He typically only appears in the Morning. If you arrive and he is not there, you may need to wait for the in-game time to advance to the next day.
  2. Steal the Skill: Once you find him, do not just talk to him. You need to use your “Celestial Seas” ability (the steal mechanic) to pickpocket a “Page” from him.
Page to Steal
  1. Claim the Reward: Return to the two disciples at the tower and hand in the page. After the dialogue, open your Journal menu, navigate to the “Wandering Tales” section, and click on the reward icon to officially learn the skill.
Skill Unlocked

3. Drunken Poet (The Combo Enabler)

On its own, Drunken Poet is just a decent skill. However, its true value lies in its synergy with Dragon’s Breath. It allows you to skip the drinking animation of other skills and causes explosion damage to burning enemies.

Location

How to Unlock It:

  1. Find the Alcohol Vendor: Travel to Harvest Fall Village. Look for the merchant NPC who sells consumable alcohol (booze).
Vendor
  1. Purchase Supplies: You will need to buy a large quantity of alcohol. It is not guaranteed to unlock on the first drink, so buy in bulk.
  2. The Drinking Grind: Open your inventory and start consuming the alcohol. Your character will gain the “Intoxicated” status effect and may stumble or fall over. You might also contract in-game “diseases” that require a healer to fix, but keep drinking.
Drinking time
  1. The Unlock: Eventually, after drinking enough, the Drunken Poet skill will randomly unlock. It is purely based on chance, so keep trying until you get the notification.

The “Instant Fire” Combo

Once you have unlocked both Dragon’s Breath and Drunken Poet, you can execute a high-DPS combo that catches enemies off guard.

  1. Activate the Drunken Poet skill.
  2. Immediately press your Block/Parry button. This will cancel the Drunken Poet animation, but your character will still retain the “Intoxicated” status buff.
  3. Immediately cast Dragon’s Breath. Because your character is already considered intoxicated, the game skips the initial drinking animation of Dragon’s Breath, allowing you to breathe fire instantly.
