Hexi Sandstorm Event & Free Inner Way Chests in Where Winds Meet
Mastering the Hexi Sandstorm Event
With the arrival of the Hexi region in Where Winds Meet, players have discovered a new limited-time weather event known as the Hexi Sandstorm. Participating in this event is currently the only way to farm a new currency called Prismatic Essence, which can be exchanged for valuable Inner Way Chests. While the game does not heavily advertise this event, it is an incredibly lucrative activity that you should add to your daily routine.
Locating the Event and the NPC Vendor
Before you start hunting for the sandstorm, you should know where to spend your hard-earned rewards. The vendor who accepts Prismatic Essence is located in the Hexi area, situated high up on a large tree structure.

To actually find the Hexi Sandstorm event, you need to open your map and look for a distinct yellow cloud icon. This cloud indicates the active area of the storm. The event is strictly tied to the in-game day and night cycle. It typically begins around the “Chen” hour (in-game time) and lasts exclusively during the daytime. In real-world time, the event window stays open for approximately 20 minutes before the storm dissipates and you have to wait for the next cycle.
How the Event Works
Once you enter the yellow cloud on your map, your goal is to hunt down specific small enemies running around the area.

You need to pay close attention to the visual cues of these creatures. There are standard versions of these enemies that only drop basic gold, but you are looking for the special variants that leave behind a golden “after-image” or shadow as they move. Hitting these specific golden-shadow enemies will force them to drop Prismatic Essence. The game currently caps your daily gathering limit at 100 Prismatic Essences, meaning it will take you about two real-world days of capping the event to buy out the entire shop.

Co-op Strategy and the Respawn Trick
The absolute best way to farm the Hexi Sandstorm is in a cooperative group. The event is fully shared among party members. If your friend hits a golden enemy and collects the essence, you will also receive credit and loot, making it much faster to reach your daily cap of 100.

Furthermore, players have discovered a respawn mechanic (which may be an unintended bug) that makes grouping up even more efficient:
- Form a party and head to the sandstorm area.
- Clear out all the visible golden-bell enemies.
- Have the Party Leader run out of the immediate zone (break line of sight with the event area).
- When the Party Leader runs back into the area, the enemies instantly respawn.
- Repeat this process running back and forth until the whole party is capped.
What You Can Earn
The primary reason to do this event is to acquire Prismatic Essence to buy the 10 available Inner Way Chests from the tree vendor in Hexi. Even though the shop limit is currently capped at 10 chests, every single Inner Way counts toward optimizing your character’s build.

In addition to the essence, you will also passively farm a significant amount of standard gold. More importantly, these enemies drop “Golden Fragments.” If you look ahead to the progression systems, these Golden Fragments (alongside Dragon Bones) are mandatory crafting materials needed for the next tier of breakthrough rings. Farming the sandstorm now ensures you will be fully prepared when it is time to upgrade your gear.
