Embark Studios has just dropped the details for ARC Raiders’ first major post-launch update, titled “North Line.” This isn’t just a simple patch; it’s a massive, multi-phased event that kicks off with a community-wide effort to unlock a brand new map, followed by a new progression track, new enemies, and a ton of new gear. Here’s what you need to know:
- New Community Event “Breaking New Ground” will start on November 13 at 10:30am CET
- A new map – Stella Montis – will be unlocked upon completion of the Community Event
- New ARC enemies will be introduced:
- Matriarch
- Shredder
- New Weapon and Utility Items:
- Energy Burst Battle Rifle
- Three New Mines
- Two New Grenades
- New Playstyles (most likely Augment variants):
- Lone Wolf
- Trailblazer
The video is full of exciting shots showcasing the new map as well as some exciting hints at what we can expect from the Breaking New Ground Community Event. We’ve gathered all the information you need to know and will share the details in this article, so you are better prepared once the North Line tunnels are unlocked!
Phase I: Community Event “Breaking New Ground”
ARC Raiders Update “North Line” kicks off on November 13 with the “Breaking New Ground” community unlock event. A sprawling network of tunnels beneath Speranza has been sealed off, and it’s up to us, the Raiders, to contribute the resources needed to reopen them and connect what has been lost.
Any player who has played at least five rounds can participate by donating basic materials to the tunnel project. Your efforts will earn you Merits, a new event currency that will be used in the next phase of progression.
Materials Needed for Donation:
There’s a cap on how many Merits you can earn from donations, but any contributions after the cap will still help the entire community reach the goal faster. The faster we finish, the faster we unlock the new map!
New Map Unlock: Stella Montis
So what are we all working for? An entirely new map: Stella Montis.
Described as an abandoned facility “carved deep into the northern mountains,” this map promises a different feel from the Rust Belt. It’s said to be “cold and sterile,” hinting at the advanced, pre-collapse technology humanity left behind in its push for the stars.

Most importantly, it’s likely to be our first indoors map, meaning that a lot of player encounters will happen in closed quarters – this will affect the gameplay and add some new playstyles into the mix! Once the community completes the “Breaking New Ground” event, this new map will be unlocked for everyone.
Phase II: “Staking Our Claim” Progression
Unlocking Stella Montis automatically triggers the second phase of the update: “Staking Our Claim.” This is a brand new, limited-time progression track filled with personal rewards and challenges.

This new Event will run from its launch until the next planned update in December, which will bring us New Major Map Conditions, such as the snowy weather and the Flickering Flames Event.
New Threats and Loot in the Arc Raiders Update “North Line”
A new map also means new dangers and, more importantly, new loot. The North Line update is adding a significant amount of new content to hunt for and fight against.
New ARC Enemies
- The Matriarch: An “imposing” new ARC machine that reportedly “makes the Queen look friendly.” This sounds like a new world boss that will appear during a specific map condition.
- The Shredder: A new enemy that will first appear on Stella Montis and is designed to challenge Raiders in close-quarters combat.

Raiders who explore Stella Montis will be able to find rare resources, new quests, and schematics for long-lost technology, including:
New Weapons and Gear
- A New Legendary Weapon
- Three New Mines
- Two New Grenades
What’s Next? Arc Raiders The Cold Snap Update
Embark also confirmed this is just the beginning of their post-launch roadmap. The next update, “Cold Snap,” is already scheduled for this December.

That update will introduce a new “Flickering Flames” event, a snowfall Map Condition, and the long-awaited Expedition Project for voluntary seasonal resets. You can read our full breakdown of that system right here.
