Cracked Bioscanners are an early but essential crafting component in ARC Raiders, required to upgrade your Medical Lab from level 1 to level 2. While they can technically appear in multiple medical areas, the Testing Annex on the Dam Battlegrounds map is by far the fastest and most reliable location to farm them safely.

This area is especially valuable because it also drops several items you’ll need for later Medical Lab and Explosive Station upgrades, letting you progress multiple systems at once.

Why You Need Cracked Bioscanners

To upgrade the Medical Lab from level 1 to level 2, you’ll need:

This same location also prepares you for the next Medical Lab upgrade, which requires Rusted Shut Medical Kits, Antiseptic, and Surveyor Vaults, making it one of the most efficient early-game farming spots.

Best Location: Testing Annex (Dam Battlegrounds)

The Testing Annex is located in the bottom-right section of the Dam Battlegrounds map and functions as a dedicated medical loot zone.

Using the Dam Battlegrounds interactive map makes it easy to route directly there without wandering through high-risk areas.

This building consistently spawns medical containers that can drop Cracked Bioscanners alongside several other high-value progression items.

Step 1: Prepare a Safe Pocket Loadout

Before loading in, it’s strongly recommended to use a custom loadout with a Safe Pocket. This ensures that if you find a Cracked Bioscanner and something goes wrong, the item is still secured.

If you want even safer runs, switching to NA servers and playing passively for several matches can place you into friendlier lobbies thanks to ARC Raiders’ behaviour-based matchmaking. These lobbies are ideal for stress-free looting.

Step 2: Reach the Testing Annex

Once you load into Dam Battlegrounds, head straight to the Testing Annex. Enter the building and move upstairs, watching carefully for potential threats.

There can occasionally be POPs, or Fireballs inside, so bringing a basic weapon is still a good idea even if you’re focusing on looting.

Step 3: Loot All Medical Containers

Once inside, thoroughly loot every container, shelf, and medical crate. Cracked Bioscanners can appear early, but it’s important to clear the entire building.

This area can also drop:

Laboratory Reagents are required later for upgrading the Explosive Station to level 3, so grabbing them now saves time later. Then Rusted Shut Medical Kits and Antiseptic are needed for the Medical Station Level 3 Upgrade.

Durable Cloth also commonly spawns here, helping you complete the Medical Lab upgrade without needing an extra farming route.

Step 4: Extract Quickly and Repeat if Needed

One of the biggest advantages of the Testing Annex is the nearby extraction point just outside the building. Once you’ve secured a Cracked Bioscanner in your Safe Pocket, head out and extract immediately.

You may need multiple runs to collect both bioscanners, but each run is very short. With good RNG, you can collect everything needed for multiple upgrades in just a few minutes.
