Moss in ARC Raiders is a Rare Nature item you’ll need to craft Defibrillators – and now it’s also required for the Avian Alarm Project introduced with the Riven Tides update. The best place to find Moss in ARC Raiders right now is the Dried Riverbed on the Riven Tides map, where you can grab 13+ Moss in a single run from fallen logs and dead trees scattered across the area.

Moss in Arc Raiders can primarily be found in the Dried Riverbed on the Riven Tides map.

What Is Moss Used For in ARC Raiders?

Moss has two main uses. First, it’s a crafting material for the Defibrillator – one of the best medical items in the game. A single Defibrillator lets you instantly revive a downed raider (teammate or stranger), and crafting one only takes 1 Moss and 9 Plastic Parts at a Level 2 Medical Station. If you play with a squad, you always want a couple of these in your loadout.

On top of that, the Avian Alarm Project now requires you to donate 12 Moss in Stage 2. This project came with the Riven Tides update and expires on May 26, 2026, so you’ll want to get farming sooner rather than later. You can also eat Moss raw for a tiny bit of healing in a pinch (bet you forgot/didn’t know? ;), but honestly, sell any extra you have – it’s not worth hoarding outside of crafting a few Defibrillators and completing the current Project.

Moss in Arc Raiders is currently required for the Avian Alarm project.

Best Place to Find Moss in ARC Raiders – Riven Tides

The Riven Tides map has the highest concentration of Moss spawns in the entire game right now. The spot you want is the Dried Riverbed – a long stretch of sand that runs from the southwest corner of the map up toward the Port Authority Building in the north, passing between the Hotel Complex and Mulatierra Hill.

Moss here grows on dead tree barks and fallen logs lying on the ground throughout the riverbed. Look for dried-out logs and boulders poking out of the sand – each one can hold 1-2 piles of Moss. There are so many spawn points along this route that you can easily get 12+ Moss in a single run, which is enough to knock out the entire Avian Alarm donation in one go.

Moss in Arc Raiders grows on fallen trees and tree stumps in the Dried Riverbed on Riven Tides.

One thing to watch out for – Moss has very slight glow and no audio cue. You need to be close enough for the interact prompt to pop up, so walk, don’t sprint through the riverbed or you’ll blow right past it. Check our Riven Tides Interactive Map with the Moss filter enabled to see every confirmed spawn location.

The downside? The Dried Riverbed is pretty exposed. It’s constantly patrolled by ARC units including aerial ARCs, Leapers, and Bombardiers, and players from nearby POIs can spot you easily. If you’re just farming Moss, consider going in light – a free loadout or minimal gear works fine since you’re not looking for a fight.

Other Moss Locations in ARC Raiders

While Riven Tides is the best spot by far, Moss also spawns on a few other maps if you’d rather grab some while you’re already running those.

Dam Battlegrounds – Hydroponic Dome Complex

The Hydroponic Dome Complex on Dam Battlegrounds was the original go-to spot for Moss before Riven Tides dropped. Head into the large dome structures and check the tall cylindrical planters and tanks – Moss tends to spawn near the bottom of these. You can also find some in the nearby swamp areas like Scrap Yard, Small Creek, and Wreckage. The catch is that this spot is well-known, so it’s often already picked clean by other raiders.

Spaceport – East Plains

On Spaceport, check the terrain between Container Storage and the East Plains Warehouse. There are a lot of Moss spawns if you know where to look – check the tips of the big rocks sticking out of the ground! Players don’t usually check these, but almost every rock has a chance to grow Moss on top of it here. Tricky to traverse but a pretty much uncontested spot for you to farm if you spawned nearby.

Alternative Ways to Get Moss in ARC Raiders

If you don’t feel like farming the maps, there are a couple of other ways to stock up.

Buy From Celeste

You can purchase up to 5 Moss per day from Celeste in Speranza for 10 Assorted Seeds each. It’s not fast – if you need 12 for the Avian Alarm Project, buying alone would take three days. But it’s a nice supplement. Buy your daily 5, then top up the rest with a quick Dried Riverbed run and you’re done. And if you are slowed down by farming the Green Ship Models for Stage 2 of the Avian Alarm Project, you might just be able to buy 10 Moss over 2 days from Celeste and find the rest topside.

Wicker Baskets During Lush Blooms

When the Lush Blooms map condition is active, Wicker Baskets spawn across the map in raider outposts, camps, and nature areas. These baskets can contain Moss along with other Nature items. This works on almost all maps, making it a low-risk way to passively grab some while doing other runs. Keep an eye on the Event Timers to know when Lush Blooms is active – it only rolls around every few hours.

Tips for Farming Moss in ARC Raiders

1. Run Riven Tides First

Don’t bother with other maps if your goal is purely Moss. The Dried Riverbed on Riven Tides has more spawns in one stretch than entire other maps combined. One focused run and you’re set.

2. Walk, Don’t Sprint

Moss has very faint glow and no sound cues – the interact prompt only shows up when you’re close and have line of sight. If you’re sprinting through the riverbed, you’ll miss half the spawns. Slow down and scan the ground around every log and boulder.

3. Go Light

If you’re just doing a dedicated Moss run, there’s no reason to risk good gear. Use a free loadout or hunt for a perfect spawn (South) with a Naked Loadout (bringing nothing but your trusty Safe Pocket). Grab your Moss, secure it, extract or surrender – done!

Safe Pocket is crucial when farming for any gatherable in arc raiders.

4. Buy Your Daily 5

Don’t forget to buy 5 Moss from Celeste each day for 10 Assorted Seeds per Moss. Even if you have enough already, stockpiling is smart – you’ll always need more Defibrillators.

5. Stack With Other Objectives

If you’re already heading to Riven Tides for quests or Avian Alarm materials like Ship Models, Canisters, or Tick Pods, route through the Dried Riverbed on your way. You’ll grab Moss passively without needing a separate run.
