Why You Need Rusted Shut Medical Kits

To upgrade your Medical Lab from level 2 to 3, you’ll need:

• 3 Rusted Shut Medical Kits
• 8 Antiseptic
• 5 Surveyor Vaults

These materials are all found within medical zones across the world. While most players rush to the Hospital in Buried City, it’s often heavily contested and looted early. Fortunately, there are safer and more reliable options that yield the same loot.

Step 1: Search the Testing Annex (Dam Battlegrounds)

One of the most reliable places to find Rusted Shut Medical Kits is the Testing Annex in the Dam Battlegrounds map. This area contains multiple medical loot spawns, including cabinets, shelves, and medical boxes.

Enter the building carefully, as it can occasionally attract other raiders and there will be Pops and Fireball ARCs roaming around too.

Alongside Rusted Shut Medical Kits, make sure to also look for Antiseptic — since both are needed for your Medical Station upgrade. You also have a chance to find Laboratory Reagents here, which are required for upgrading your Explosives Station from level 2 to 3.

Step 2: Visit the Pharmacy in Plaza Rosa (Buried City)

Another excellent location for Rusted Shut Medical Kits is the Pharmacy located in the Plaza Rosa zone of the Buried City map.

You’ll need to breach the front door to enter — if the breach prompt is still available, it’s a good sign the area hasn’t been looted yet.

Once inside, close the door behind you and search the ground floor shelves and upper rooms thoroughly for medical loot.

Just like the Testing Annex, keep an eye out for Antiseptic and Laboratory Reagents, as both have a chance to spawn here as well.

This location is particularly efficient because it’s near a zipline extraction point just outside the building, allowing for quick, repeated farming runs with minimal risk.

Step 3: Extract and Upgrade Your Medical Station

Once you’ve collected at least three Rusted Shut Medical Kits, safely extract and return to Speranza. Use the materials to upgrade your Medical Station from level 2 to 3, unlocking new healing items and crafting opportunities for your loadout.
