Arc Raiders

You can find the Thermal Shaker in ARC Raiders on Pendola Pass, most often on one of the chairs in the top-left of the Observatory. You need three of them for the final Research Station upgrade, so it is worth learning the route.

The team here at MetaForge has tested this route in our own runs, and we have looted a Thermal Shaker from this area two or three times across a couple of runs. Use the sections below to prepare your loadout, get inside, and repeat the run.

Where to Find the Thermal Shaker in ARC Raiders

The Thermal Shaker is found in the Observatory on Pendola Pass, the new map added in the Frozen Trail 2.0 update. The building sits close to an extract, which makes it quick to check and leave if nothing spawns, so it suits repeat runs well.

Embark Studios’ Frozen Trail announcementdescribes the area as once home to villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory. We have not found more than one Thermal Shaker in this spot per visit, so check it on every run.

What to Bring Before You Go

Bring any loadout you are comfortable fighting with, plus a Snap Hook to enter the Observatory room quickly. Nothing else is required to loot the Thermal Shaker, so the Snap Hook is the only item that changes your route, and it keeps you away from the ARC at the door.

These are the items and slots worth preparing:

  • Weapon and gear: Use whatever kit you are comfortable with.
  • Snap Hook: Lets you hook up into the room and skip the ARC on the other side of the door.
  • Free inventory space: Leave room for the other materials you pick up in the room.
  • Open Safe Pocket slot: Keep one free so you can protect the Thermal Shaker as soon as you find it.

The Frozen Trail 2.0 patch notes changed the Snap Hook as shown below.

Snap Hook statBefore 2.0After 2.0
Range20m18m
Durability cost per use2%4%
Power cost5060

Check your Snap Hook’s durability before you queue, since each use now costs 4%.

How to Get Into the Observatory with a Snap Hook

Map markers are estimates and do not guarantee an identical outcome in your raid, so check Pendola Pass on the ARC Raiders Interactive Map before you queue. Then head straight for the Observatory when the raid starts, since other Raiders may be heading there too.

  1. Move out early: Run to the Observatory as soon as you spawn so you can get inside before anybody else does.
  2. Equip the Snap Hook: Do this once you are close to the building, not at the start of the run.
  3. Hook into the room: Use the Snap Hook from within its 18m range to pull yourself into the room (TBC: exact anchor point).
  4. Start in the kitchen: You land in the top-left of the Observatory, next to the kitchen, so begin your sweep there.

Where the Thermal Shaker Spawns Inside the Observatory

The Thermal Shaker often spawns on one of the chairs in the area between the kitchen and the storage room. Check every chair first, then search the lockers in the storage room, which also hold many items you need for your Outpost and Research Station.

Use this route to cover the room in order:

  1. Kitchen: Start here after you hook in, and loot your way through it.
  2. Chairs and tables: Check each chair for the Thermal Shaker, since this is where it has appeared in our runs.
  3. Storage room: Finish in the small room with the lockers, then decide whether to extract or keep looting.

Other Places to Find the Thermal Shaker

The Observatory is the only location where we have confirmed the Thermal Shaker so far. Storm shelters are another place to look while a storm is active, but they take far more travel, mean running between several shelters, and offer no guarantee that any one holds it.

MethodTravel effortWhat we have confirmed
Observatory chairs and storage roomSingle buildingFound two or three times across a couple of runs, one per visit
Storm sheltersRunning between several shelters while a storm is activePossible spawn, not yet confirmed in our runs (TBC)
Supermarket and train depotOther points of interest on Pendola PassNo Thermal Shaker spawn confirmed yet (TBC)

Embark’s Frozen Trail First Look names a buried train depot and a supermarket among the remains of the old world on the map.

Storm timings on the ARC Raiders Event Timers are estimates and do not guarantee an identical outcome in your raid, so run the Observatory route first and check storm shelters only while a storm is active.

How to Loot the Observatory Safely and Repeat the Run

Put the Thermal Shaker in your Safe Pocket as soon as you find it, then decide whether to extract or keep looting. The nearby extract makes it quick to repeat the run if nothing spawns.

  1. Secure the item: Move the Thermal Shaker into your Safe Pocket in case a fight breaks out.
  2. Choose your exit: Head to the extract, or keep looting if you want to try for a second one.
  3. Queue again: Return to Pendola Pass and repeat the route until you have all three.

Example Scenario (hypothetical): You find a Thermal Shaker on a chair, move it into your Safe Pocket, and walk to the extract. You then queue for Pendola Pass again to look for the next one.

Example Scenario (hypothetical): You check the kitchen, the chairs and tables, and the storage room, and none of them holds a Thermal Shaker. You head straight to the extract and start another run instead of searching the rest of the map.

What the Thermal Shaker is Used For

The Thermal Shaker is used for the Research Station Level 4 upgrade, which needs three of them. Because it is the final upgrade for the station, there is no rush, and you can collect them over several Observatory runs instead of forcing them in one session.

The 2.0 patch notes state that unlocking the Outpost gives you access to the Research Station, and that the Outpost is unlocked by completing a project that requires a camera. Complete that project first so the Research Station is ready when you hold three Thermal Shakers.

Collect Three Thermal Shakers and Finish Your Research Station

Load into Pendola Pass in ARC Raiders, equip your Snap Hook near the Observatory, and sweep the kitchen, chairs, and storage room, then move any Thermal Shaker you find into your Safe Pocket. Only one spawned per visit in our testing, so plan on at least three trips for the full set.

Unlock the Outpost first if you have not already, then take all three Thermal Shakers to your Research Station and start the Level 4 upgrade.

FAQs

Can you recycle the Thermal Shaker in ARC Raiders?

Yes, you can recycle the Thermal Shaker in ARC Raiders for 2 Electrical Components and 2 Calculators, according to the MetaForge database. Salvaging it instead yields 1 Electrical Components. Keep all three Thermal Shakers for the Research Station Level 4 upgrade before you recycle any extras.

How much is the Thermal Shaker worth in ARC Raiders?

The Thermal Shaker is worth 3,000 Raider Coins in ARC Raiders, according to the MetaForge database. The Research Station Level 4 upgrade needs three Thermal Shakers, so keep your first three and sell only extras, because selling one early means another Observatory run to replace it.

How many Thermal Shakers fit in one stack in ARC Raiders?

A single stack holds 3 Thermal Shakers in ARC Raiders, and each weighs 0.5 kg, according to the MetaForge database. A full stack therefore weighs 1.5 kg, takes one inventory slot, and covers all three Thermal Shakers needed for the Research Station Level 4 upgrade.

What rarity is the Thermal Shaker in ARC Raiders?

The Thermal Shaker is an Epic rarity item in the Technological and Electrical categories, according to the MetaForge database. That entry lists no precise location data or maps yet, so the Observatory chairs on Pendola Pass remain the most consistent first-hand spawn to check on every run.

Does the Dynamic Loot Zone change Thermal Shaker spawns in ARC Raiders?

No, the Frozen Trail 2.0 patch notes do not say the Dynamic Loot Zone changes Thermal Shaker spawns. They describe a test exclusive to Pendola Pass where an area’s loot value can change between raids while its loot type stays the same, so keep checking the Observatory chairs.
