A Tool for Underwater Mining Quest in Enshrouded

The A Tool for Underwater Mining quest is required before you can mine underwater resources such as Gold Ore and Mother of Pearls. This quest is given by Oswald Anders, the blacksmith, and leads you into Veilwater Basin to recover a special item that allows you to collect submerged materials: the Mining Sieve.

Step 1 – Get the Quest From the Blacksmith

You’ll receive this quest directly from Oswald Anders, who sends you to find clues about a lost tool capable of mining underwater. The quest directs you toward the village of Orville, located inside Veilwater Basin.

Step 2 – Travel to Veilwater Basin Spire

Begin by travelling to the Veilwater Basin Spire. From the top of the spire, look toward the west side of the basin. You should see the village of Orville in the distance.

Glide from the spire toward the long wooden bridge leading into Orville — this is the safest and most direct route into the village.

Step 3 – Enter Orville and Search the Village

Once you land at the bridge, head into Orville. Be prepared, as this village contains a fair number of enemies. Make your way to the central platform above the water — this is the first clue location that the quest points you toward.

Step 4 – Locate the Shipwreck

After investigating the center of Orville, the quest will instruct you to search the shipwreck for the missing tool. Fortunately, the shipwreck is very close by and easy to reach from the village center.

Head toward the broken ship hull in the water just outside Orville.

Step 5 – Retrieve the Mining Sieve

Swim down beneath the wreckage to find the tool.
Interact with it to collect the Mining Sieve, the special item required for harvesting all underwater resources.

Once equipped, the Mining Sieve allows you to mine Gold Ore, Mother of Pearls, and other underwater nodes throughout Veilwater Basin.

You can even test it immediately — several Gold Ore nodes are located right next to the shipwreck.
