Arc Raiders

The Surge Coil Blueprint is one of three new blueprints added to ARC Raiders in the Flashpoint update, and it’s the easiest of the bunch to track down. You’ll find it by looting containers during the Electromagnetic Storm map condition – no specific event or container type required. Just load into any map with EM Storm active, loot everything you can, and you’ve got a solid chance of pulling it.

The Surge Coil itself is a deployable device that periodically electrifies the area around it, stunning ARC and players who wander too close. With Shredders now on every map thanks to the Flashpoint update, having one of these in your pocket is more useful than ever. Use the Event Timers to track when Electromagnetic Storm is active.

Why You Need the Surge Coil

The Surge Coil is a Rare deployable that you place on the ground. Once set, it periodically sends out an electric pulse that briefly stuns anything in its radius – ARC enemies and other Raiders included. Think of it as a set-and-forget trap. Drop it by a doorway while you’re looting a room and you’ll know the second something walks in. Place it near a breach point on an Assessor and it buys you extra time to loot before the ARC wave reaches you. Use it to lock down a chokepoint while your squad extracts.

It’s especially handy now that Shredders have spread to every map. These fast-moving ARC enemies can catch you off guard in tight spaces, and a well-placed Surge Coil will stun them long enough for you to react. The Coil stacks up to 3 in your inventory, so you can carry a few per raid without burning too much space. It’s one of those items that doesn’t sound flashy but saves your life more often than you’d expect.

Where to Find the Surge Coil Blueprint

The Surge Coil Blueprint drops from containers during the Electromagnetic Storm map condition. Unlike some other blueprints in ARC Raiders, it’s not locked to a specific container type – you can find it in lockers, desk drawers, cupboards, industrial crates, and pretty much any other lootable container on the map. The key is that EM Storm needs to be active. Check the Event Timers to see when it’s running and jump in on any map.

Surge Coil Blueprint can be found in various containers but only during the Electromagnetic Storm Major Map Condition.

Players have reported finding the blueprint across multiple maps and locations. On Dam Battlegrounds, the Testing Annex, Water Treatment Facility, and Hydroponic Domes have all produced confirmed drops. Other maps have seen it turn up in various loot zones as well – there’s no single best spot, so the strategy is simple: hit as many containers as you can during EM Storm and you’ll get it. Use our Dam Interactive Map or browse all maps to plan an efficient loot route.

Since you’re looting general containers and not fighting for event-specific drops like the Dolabra‘s Assessors or the Canto‘s First Wave Caches, farming the Surge Coil Blueprint is way more relaxed. You can combine it with other objectives – run your normal EM Storm loot route, work on quests, hit locked rooms (which got a loot buff in the Flashpoint patch), and pick up the blueprint naturally along the way.

Industrial containers is another good spot to check.

How to Craft the Surge Coil

Surge Coil Blueprint and Crafting Requirements.

Once you’ve extracted the Surge Coil Blueprint, you’ll need an Explosives Station Level 3 and these materials to craft it: 1x Electrical Components, 1x Hornet Driver, and 1x Sensors. The crafting cost is very low compared to weapons like the Dolabra or Canto, so you can stock up easily.

The Surge Coil stacks up to 3 and you can craft it as many times as you want once you have the blueprint – you won’t need to find it again unless your progress resets with a new Expedition.

Tips for Finding the Surge Coil Blueprint

1. Loot everything during EM Storm. Since the Surge Coil Blueprint can drop from any container type, don’t skip anything. Lockers, drawers, cupboards, crates – open it all. The more containers you hit per raid, the better your odds.

2. Hit locked rooms for double value. The Flashpoint update buffed loot in all locked rooms with increases scaled by key rarity. During EM Storm, locked rooms give you both better general loot and a chance at the Surge Coil Blueprint. Bring your keys.

3. Safe Pocket it immediately. Same rule as every other blueprint – the second you see it, put it in your Safe Pocket. EM Storm raids can get hectic and you don’t want to lose it to a stray Rocketeer or another Raider on your way to extraction.

Safe Pocket is essential when hunting for blueprints.

4. Combine it with other farming goals. EM Storm is a great condition for blueprint farming in general. While you’re hunting the Surge Coil Blueprint, you might also pick up blueprints for other items that drop during this condition. Don’t tunnel-vision on one blueprint when you could be progressing on several at once.
