Crimson Desert

There are 11 Dyehouse locations in Crimson Desert spread across the continent of Pywel, and each one specializes in a different color family. If you’ve been running around in mismatched gear wondering why you can’t apply certain colors at certain vendors, that’s because Dyehouses are region-locked – the one in Hernand only handles reds, Pororin deals in yellows and whites, and so on. This guide covers every Dyehouse location in Crimson Desert, what dye each one sells, and whether you need to complete any quests or story chapters to unlock them. If you just want to get your fashion game sorted, you can also track all of these on our Crimson Desert Interactive Map.

Before we break down each location, here’s the key thing to understand: visiting a regional Dyehouse vendor and buying their dye does two things. First, it permanently unlocks 20 hues of that color for you to use at that specific Dyehouse. Second – and this is the part a lot of people miss – it also makes that entire color family available at your Greymane Camp Dyehouse once you’ve recruited Oliver. So even if you’re not planning to dye anything right now, it’s worth stopping by every Dyehouse you come across just to unlock their colors for later.

1. Hernand Dyehouse (Theoric) – First of Dyehouse Locations in Crimson Desert

The Hernand Dyehouse is the first one you’ll find in the game, and it’s where the dye system tutorial sends you during the Brightening the Spirits quest chain (part of the Scattered Embers questline). It’s run by Theoric and located southeast of Hernand Castle, on the outskirts of town. Look for the colorful fabrics hung out to dry – that’s the telltale sign of every Dyehouse in the game.

Theoric sells the Dark Red Dye for 150 copper, which unlocks the full Hernandian red color palette. This Dyehouse is available right from the start of the game with no quest requirements beyond reaching Hernand, so it’s a great first stop to get familiar with how the dye system works. Remember to “Use” the dye from your inventory after buying it – that’s the step that actually learns the color and makes it show up in the dyeing menu.

2. Pororin Village Dyehouse (Devin) – Yellow, White and Gold Dyes

The Pororin Village Dyehouse is one of the most sought-after Dyehouse locations in Crimson Desert because it’s where you unlock the incredibly popular white and gold dye options. The vendor here is Devin, who sells the Standard Yellow Dye for 150 copper. But the real magic is in the Pororin color palette itself – once unlocked, you can select white from the top-left of the Pororin Dye grid, and get gold by choosing a yellow shade on a shiny material finish.

This Dyehouse is locked behind the The Unreachable Village faction quest, which becomes available in Chapter 2. To trigger it, you need to get hit by the Pororin Patrol’s sleep darts three times. After that, a Shai girl named Arkin appears near the Outcast’s Hearth and gives you the quest to access the village. Complete it and you’ll unlock Pororin Village, Florindale, and most importantly – Devin’s Dyehouse.

3. Calphade Siege Armory Dyehouse (Lauendell) – Green Dyes

The Calphade Dyehouse is located in the southern section of the Calphade Siege Armory and is run by Lauendell. He sells the Bright Green Dye for 150 copper, unlocking the full Calphadean green color family. Talking to Lauendell also immediately makes Calphadean dyes available at your camp Dyehouse once Oliver is set up there, so don’t skip this one even if greens aren’t your thing right now.

There are no specific quest gates for this Dyehouse – you just need to reach the Calphade region through normal story progression. The Siege Armory itself is a notable landmark, so it shouldn’t be hard to find once you’re in the area.

Calphade Siege Armory has its' own Dyehouse that sells green dyes.

4. Demeniss Dyehouse (Linus) – Blue Dyes

The first of three Dyehouses in the Demeniss region, this one is run by Linus and located west of Demeniss Castle. He sells the Bright Blue Dye for 150 copper, unlocking the Demenissian blue palette. Like Lauendell in Calphade, talking to Linus also registers the Demenissian color family at your camp Dyehouse for later use.

This Dyehouse is available as soon as you reach the Demeniss region – no extra quest requirements. It’s the baseline Demeniss Dyehouse, and the other two in this region only appear later in the game after you’ve cleared Chapter 8.

5. Demeniss Dyehouse #2 (Edmar) – Purple Dyes

The second Demeniss Dyehouse is run by Edmar and sits northeast of Demeniss city. He sells the Rich Purple Dye for 150 copper, which is one of the most popular dyes in the game for fashion builds. Rich Purple is a standout color that looks great on heavier armor sets, so it’s well worth prioritizing once you can access it.

This Dyehouse only appears after you complete Chapter 8 of the main story. It doesn’t exist on the map before that, so don’t waste time searching for it early. Once Chapter 8 is done, it spawns in along with the third Demeniss Dyehouse.

6. Demeniss Dyehouse #3 – Violet Dyes

The third and final Demeniss Dyehouse is located northwest of the city, above Greenfield Farm. This one sells the Dark Violet Dye and, like Edmar’s shop, only spawns after completing Chapter 8. The violet palette gives you access to a completely different range of hues compared to the purples at Edmar’s Dyehouse, so they’re worth picking up separately.

Between these three Demeniss Dyehouses, you’ll have access to blues, purples, and violets – a massive chunk of the cooler end of the color spectrum. Just keep in mind that two of the three are locked behind late-game story progression, making these some of the last Dyehouse locations in Crimson Desert you’ll unlock.

7. Tommaso Dyehouse (Cormac) – Orange Dyes

The Tommaso Dyehouse is run by Cormac and located northwest of Tommaso City. He sells the Dark Orange Dye for 150 copper, unlocking the full Tommasoan orange color family. Talking to Cormac also registers the Tommasoan palette at your camp Dyehouse once Oliver is available.

Orange is an underrated color family that pairs surprisingly well with darker armor sets, especially when you use it on accent sections like straps and ornamental trim. This Dyehouse is accessible once you reach the Tommaso region through story progression.

8. Delesyia Dyehouse (Castiel) – Sky Blue Dyes

The Delesyia Dyehouse is run by Castiel and located west of Delesyia. He sells the Deep Sky Blue Dye, unlocking the Delesyian sky blue color family. These are lighter, more vibrant blues compared to the deeper Demenissian blues from Linus – think bright skies versus navy tones. The Delesyian palette also uses White Medicinal Herbs for crafting (flowers like False Starwort, Snapdragon, and Dendrobium Orchid), which is different from most other regions.

This Dyehouse becomes available when you reach the Delesyia region. There’s also a Rich Teal Dye that can be found in a locked wooden house right next to Castiel’s Dyehouse if you have a key, so it’s worth poking around the immediate area while you’re there.

9. Pailune Dyehouse (Laurick) – Teal Dyes

The Pailune Dyehouse is run by Laurick and located in the southern part of Pailune city, right next to the main gate. He sells the Teal Dye for 150 copper, unlocking the full Pailunese teal color catalog. Teal is one of the more distinctive color families in the game and looks fantastic on lighter armor sets.

This is one of the later Dyehouse locations in Crimson Desert because it’s locked behind Chapter 7 of the main story. You need to liberate Pailune before the Dyehouse becomes available, so there’s no way to access it early. Once the city is free, head to the southern gate and you’ll find Laurick set up shop.

10. Varnia Dyehouse (Alton) – Spring Green Dyes

The Varnia Dyehouse is run by Alton and located north of Varnia, near the Nexus. He sells the Rich Spring Green Dye, which unlocks a different shade of green compared to Lauendell’s Calphadean greens. The spring greens are brighter and more vibrant – closer to fresh foliage tones versus the deeper forest greens from Calphade.

This Dyehouse is located all the way North-East in the very top-right corner of the map. We are currently unsure if this Dyer is locked behind any Story Quest requirements but it is a bit of a trek to get there as it is. Well worth it though, as it unlocks unique shades of green dyes for your armor!

11. Greymane Camp Dyer (Oliver) – All Colors + Shadow Grey

The Greymane Camp Dyehouse is the ultimate Dyehouse location in Crimson Desert because it’s the only place where you can apply dyes from every region in a single location. It’s run by Oliver, your personal camp Dyer at Greymane Camp in Howling Hill. On top of being able to use every color you’ve unlocked from the regional Dyehouses, Oliver also sells the exclusive Shadow Grey Dye for 1,500 copper – the most expensive dye in the game, and the only one that can’t be crafted or found anywhere else.

Recruiting Oliver takes some work. You need to complete your third camp expansion at Greymane Camp, which means finishing all of the Gathered Will – Grounds of the Sunrise Greymane faction quests (yes, including the apple tree one). After the third expansion is done, a rumor at Inksworth Bindery will appear that kicks off Oliver’s recruitment quest. Once he’s at camp, he becomes your one-stop shop for all things dye – and the single best reason to visit all Dyehouse locations in Crimson Desert at least once, since their color families only show up here after you’ve talked to each regional vendor.

How Dyehouse Locations in Crimson Desert Work

If you’re new to the dye system, here’s a quick rundown of how it all fits together. When you visit a Dyehouse, you can select “Dye” to apply colors to your currently equipped gear, or “Buy” to purchase dye bottles from the vendor. After buying a dye, you need to open your inventory and select “Use” on the bottle to permanently learn that color. This is the step most people miss – the dye won’t appear in the Dyehouse menu until you’ve consumed it from your inventory.

Each piece of gear has multiple dye zones – a chest piece might have separate sections for the main body, leather straps, ornamental trim, and frills, and you can color each one independently. You can also change the material finish on each section to make it look shinier, more metallic, or more worn. The whole system is purely cosmetic and doesn’t affect stats, so go wild with it.

The biggest limitation is that regional Dyehouses can only apply their own colors. You can’t use Hernandian reds at the Pailune Dyehouse, for example. The workaround is Oliver’s camp Dyehouse, which can apply any color from any region – but only if you’ve visited that region’s Dyehouse vendor at least once. That’s why we recommend making a point to stop at every Dyehouse location in Crimson Desert as you explore, even if you’re not interested in dyeing anything at the time.
