Deaths In Stillwater Bay

Something has awoken, I fear. More people go missing each eve... first, t'was only those who ventured past the bay. But now, anyone too close to the canals during a moonless night is lost to the waters. I feel like something is testing us... biting down to see if we flinch, fight, or flee. But what can we do in the face of a nameless specter that's come with a challenge? There are no guards, no lord left to defend us... They've set off to fight a holy war and left us behind, near dark waters hiding sinister fates. Some people chose to move further inland. Even the lighthousekeeper has fled, or so I heard. An old man who spent his entire life by this coast... I wonder what he saw last night, during that sunless storm... and how long we have until it reveals itself.
