Land of the Sky Islands Quest in Enshrouded
To complete the Land of the Sky Islands quest in Enshrouded, take the main road to the Ancient Gate, glide over the Shroud, and find survivor Loraine Crim. Summon her at your base and talk to her to finish the quest.
The team here at MetaForge ran this route in full on the Enshrouded 1.0 build, which launched on October 15, 2026 with the new Cinder’s Cradle region.
Land of the Sky Islands Walkthrough at a Glance
The Land of the Sky Islands walkthrough has six stages: starting the quest at the Flame, reaching the Ancient Gate, gliding over the Shroud, riding the lifts and elevators, following the wide road, and rescuing Loraine Crim. Each stage after the first has its own section below.
Our Land of the Sky Islands database entry lists 3,200 XP and Loraine Crim as the quest’s rewards.
Play the stages in this order:
- Start the quest: Interact with the Flame to receive the objective. It asks you to head to the Land of the Sky Islands by reaching the Ancient Gate.
- Reach the Ancient Gate: Follow the main road through the Shroud from a Flame Altar placed just outside it. Skip every mob along the way.
- Glide over the Shroud: Climb the hardened mycelium pillars to the left of the gate. Glide toward the orange lights instead of crossing on foot.
- Ride the lifts and elevators: Use a lift, launch platforms, and grapple points to gain height. Two elevators then carry you up to the sky island road.
- Follow the wide road: Stay on the thickest pathway through a second Shroud section until you reach a set of stairs.
- Rescue Loraine Crim: Clear the small Ancients, open the gates in the room ahead, and wake her. Summon her at your base and talk to her.

What You Need Before You Start
Before starting, you need access to Cinder’s Cradle, a glider, a grappling hook, and food that boosts stamina and health. The route is long and mostly avoids combat, so stamina for sprinting and gliding matters more than damage output, though a ranged weapon helps with a few Ancients.
Check these off before you leave your base:
- Flame Level: Cinder’s Cradle is gated behind a new Flame Level added in the 1.0 update.
- Glider: Most of the route past the gate is crossed in the air, so bring your glider.
- Grappling hook: Several gaps on the sky islands end at grapple points.
- Food: Stamina food keeps your sprints and glides going, and health food covers stray hits you take while running past mobs.
- Ranged weapon: Bring a bow or staff to shoot the small Ancients near Loraine Crim.
- Forward Flame Altar: We placed a small Flame Altar just outside the Shroud at the start of the road to the gate. It gives you a fast-travel point right where the run begins.

How to Reach the Ancient Gate
To reach the Ancient Gate, start just outside the Shroud and follow the main road straight through it until the gate appears. Do not stop to fight, since every mob along the road can be outrun, and the Fell guarding the entrance can be passed without combat.
Plot a path to the gate on your in-game map before leaving the Flame Altar, so the road stays easy to follow inside the Shroud. Sprint in short bursts and let stamina recover between enemy groups.
At the gate, run straight past the Fell and through the doors. Once inside, turn left to start the climb above the Shroud.

How to Glide Over the Shroud Past the Gate
Past the gate, you climb two hardened mycelium pillars on the left and glide across the Shroud instead of walking through it. This route is faster and safer, and it chains together a lift, launch platforms, and grapple points that carry you up to the first sky island elevator.
Follow these steps in order from the gate doors:
- Climb the mycelium pillars: Head left through the doors and climb the hardened mycelium to the top of the first pillar. Climb the next pillar from there for extra height.
- Glide toward the orange light: Jump from the next piece of mycelium and glide toward the orange light directly ahead. You will not reach it in one glide, so aim for the piece right in front of you.
- Clear the landing: Destroy the obstacle on that piece so it cannot knock you off. Then climb on top of it.
- Take the lift: Your target platform is on the left, but you reach it through the gap on the right, where a lift runs up and down. Ride it down first, then back up to the top.
- Use the launch platform: Cross to the next platform and step onto the launch pad, which shoots you up toward a small tower. Turn around at the tower to face two pillars with orange lights.
- Glide to the orange-lit pillars: Jump from the tower rather than the platform below it for more height. Land, then take the next launch platform across.
- Grapple up: Jump the next gap and grapple up. Kill the small mechanical scorpion-like Ancients here and loot them for parts.
- Glide to the next grapple point: Jump onto the next platform, glide across, and grapple onto the next hook. Follow the path up to the first elevator.

How to Follow the Wide Road to Loraine Crim
Ride both elevators up, then follow the thickest pathway through the sky islands and a second Shroud section without turning off. Thinner paths lead to other areas, so stay on the wide road until you reach a set of stairs, which mark the final stretch.
Work through the route in this order:
- Ride the first elevator: Wait for it to come down, or run up along the sides to save time. You can skip the mobs here, but they drop resources you will need later.
- Ride the second elevator: Fight the mobs at the top and grab the loot. Head right once you are done.
- Stay on the wide road: Ignore the thinner branches, which lead elsewhere. Grab the respawn point along the way.
- Watch for lightning orbs: Near the next respawn point, lightning orbs start shooting out of the walls. Go right here, or go straight and then right, as long as you rejoin the wide road.
- Cross the second Shroud section: Keep straight on the same road, take no turns, and skip every mob. Continue until you reach a set of stairs.
- Climb to the final respawn point: Go up the stairs, turn left at the top, and follow the path to the respawn point.
- Shoot the small Ancients: Head left from the respawn point and up the stairs. Shoot them rather than grappling onto them, since the grapple can pull you off the edge.
- Open the gates: Continue up the stairs to the right, clear the enemies, and loot them. Enter the room ahead and open its gates.
- Wake Loraine Crim: Grab the optional lore note in the room, then interact with Loraine Crim to rescue her.

Which Enemies to Fight and Which to Skip
It is worth fighting only a handful of enemy groups on this route: the scorpion-like Ancients, the elevator mobs, and the small Ancients outside Loraine Crim’s room. Everything else, including the Fell at the Ancient Gate and the mobs on the wide road, can be outrun.
The Fell are the Shroud enemies you meet across Enshrouded, and the same rule applies to them here as on any long Shroud run.
| Location | Enemies | Fight or skip | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main road through the Shroud | Shroud mobs | Skip | Fighting adds time inside the Shroud |
| Ancient Gate entrance | Group of Fell | Skip | You can run past them through the doors |
| Grapple ledge after the launch pads | Scorpion-like Ancients | Fight | They drop parts when looted |
| First elevator | Surrounding mobs | Optional | They drop resources needed later |
| Top of the second elevator | Mobs guarding loot | Fight | Clears the way to the loot |
| Wide road and second Shroud section | Roadside mobs | Skip | No need to stop on the main road |
| Stairs before Loraine Crim’s room | Small Ancients | Fight (ranged) | Loot |
Sprint past every group marked Skip, and stop only for Fight groups to keep the run short.

How to Summon Loraine Crim at Your Base
After waking Loraine Crim, return to your base, summon her to place her, then talk to her to complete Land of the Sky Islands. That conversation also unlocks Activating the Gate to the Stars, so restock food at your base before you speak to her and head back out.
Summoning works the same way as for the earlier survivors you have rescued. In our run, Loraine fell asleep immediately after being placed, so walk up and interact with her anyway to start the dialogue.

What Loraine Crim Adds to Your Base
Loraine Crim is the Ancient Researcher craftsperson, and rescuing her adds a new set of recipes to your base. Her entry in the Enshrouded Database lists the following unlocks:
- Building: Ancient Workbench, Infusion Altar, Placeable Gem Forge, and several plant pots.
- Tools: Archaic Lockpick.
- Weapons: Shroud Vessel’s Greatsword.
- Armor: Vorgoth’s Soulbound Boots, Chest, Crown, Gloves, and Pants.
Cinder’s Cradle sits in the far north past the Veilwater Basin gates, with a lava wasteland below and floating islands the Ancients lifted above it. That layout is why this quest is mostly vertical traversal, not combat.
The official Enshrouded site frames the Shroud as the game’s central threat, and it still covers both ground sections of this route. Plan each crossing from high ground so you glide over it rather than walk through it.

Start Activating the Gate to the Stars from Your Base
You can now reach the sky island road past the Ancient Gate without crossing the Shroud on foot, with a Flame Altar and respawn points set up along the way. Use them as your launch points for the rest of Cinder’s Cradle.
Talk to Loraine Crim to pick up Activating the Gate to the Stars, a side quest that sends you through six beacon dungeons across Cinder’s Cradle, starting with Springlands. Head for the Springlands dungeon entrance marked on your map, with stamina food stocked for the floating islands along the way.
FAQs
Is Land of the Sky Islands a main quest in Enshrouded?
Yes, Land of the Sky Islands is a main quest in Enshrouded, granted automatically by the Flame as part of the 1.0 Cinder’s Cradle storyline. Skipping it blocksActivating the Gate to the Stars, because Loraine Crim gives that follow-up quest only after you rescue her.
Can you play Land of the Sky Islands in Enshrouded co-op?
Yes, Land of the Sky Islands can be played in Enshrouded co-op, which supports up to 16 players. Every player needs their own glider and grappling hook for the sky island crossings, and groups should regroup at each respawn point so nobody is stranded in the Shroud.
What should you do if your Shroud timer runs low on the way to the Ancient Gate?
If your Shroud timer runs low on the way to the Ancient Gate, head back to a Flame Altar outside the Shroud when the gate is still far away. The timer only refills once you leave the Shroud, so an altar placed beside the main road makes that reset quick.
How do you recover after falling off a sky island in Enshrouded?
To recover after falling off a sky island in Enshrouded, open your glider immediately to slow the drop and steer toward the nearest platform or hardened mycelium. If you land in the Shroud below, climb the closest mycelium back up or return to your last respawn point.
Do you lose items if you die during Land of the Sky Islands?
Whether you lose items when you die during Land of the Sky Islands depends on your Enshrouded world settings. You respawn at your last activated respawn point or Flame Altar, so activate every respawn point on the sky islands to keep any trip back to dropped gear short.
