Where to Find Magma Gel in Enshrouded
You can find Magma Gel in Enshrouded on lava plants in Cinder’s Cradle, and the easiest farm is the mine just right of the Ancient Gate. Cinder’s Cradle is the lava-covered endgame biome added in the 1.0 release, and the mine sits outside the Shroud with very few enemies nearby.
The team here at MetaForge tested this route after the 1.0 launch, and the first three plants we chopped dropped 11 Magma Gel. Each plant breaks with an axe, the same way you chop a tree, so you can clear the whole farm in a single top-to-bottom pass through the mine.
This guide reflects the live build as of Hotfix 1.0.0.2, and none of that patch’s 14 fixes change gathering, so you can follow the route below as shown.
What You Need Before Farming Magma Gel
Magma Gel only grows in late-game Enshrouded territory, so get these in place before you make the trip:
- Access to Cinder’s Cradle: The biome sits in the north of Embervale, beyond the newly opened gates past Veilwater Basin, per the official 1.0 changelog. You need to unlock the next Flame level before entering, so upgrade your Flame first.
- Progress to the Ancient Gate: The Land of the Sky Islands quest takes you along the main road to the Ancient Gate. Once you have been there, the mine is a short run to the left.
- An axe: Magma Gel plants break when you chop them, just like trees. Keep your axe on your hotbar so you can swap to it between jumps.
- A nearby Flame Altar: Our run started from an altar on the ledge beside the mine. Place your own Flame Altar there so you can fast travel straight back for repeat runs.

How to Farm Magma Gel at the Ancient Gate Mine
Start at the top of the mine and work down, since dropping between ledges is easier than climbing back up over lava. Follow these steps in order:
- Travel to the Ancient Gate: Fast travel to your closest Flame Altar and head for the Ancient Gate. The mine sits just to its left, outside the Shroud.
- Climb up to the altar ledge: If you approach from below, you exit the Shroud underneath the mine. Jump up onto the ledge beside the altar to reach the entrance.
- Run to the first elevator: Go all the way to the top of the mine, where the first elevator sits. Skip the plants on the way up, as you will pass them again coming down.
- Drop down and chop the first plant: Jump down from the elevator area and swap to your axe. Chop the Magma Gel plant beside where you land.
- Pick up every drop by hand: Collect nearby loot did not always grab every Magma Gel in our testing. Check the ground around each plant before you move on.
- Hop point to point back to the altar: Jump from point to point, chopping each plant on the way down. The route ends back at the altar ledge, where you can start another loop or fast travel out.

How Much Magma Gel You Get Per Run
The first three plants we harvested in the mine produced 11 Magma Gel. Whether each plant’s yield is fixed or random is not yet confirmed.
Magma Gel stacks to 250 per slot, so you can farm several runs before you need to empty your inventory. The plant respawn timer is also TBC, so rotate this farm with other Cinder’s Cradle tasks instead of waiting on site.

How to Avoid Lava Damage While Farming
Lava is the main threat on this route, since the lower layer of Cinder’s Cradle is a barren wasteland where lava flows through ancient ruins. Use these habits to keep your health up:
- Lava contact: Standing on lava damages you. The damage is small, but it adds up if you linger between plants.
- Jump timing: Line up each jump before you leave solid ground. A careful hop keeps you out of the lava, while rushing to the next plant often lands you in it.
- Top-down pathing: Starting at the first elevator means most moves are drops or short hops. Working upward forces you to climb out of lava pools.
- Chop from solid ground: Where a plant has a rock or ledge beside it, stand there to chop. That keeps you out of the lava while you swing your axe.
Example Scenario (hypothetical): You misjudge a jump and land in the lava between two plants. Step onto the nearest solid ground first, chop the plant from there, and only then line up your next jump.

What Magma Gel is Used For
Magma Gel is a core crafting material for Cinder’s Cradle gear, feeding weapons, armor, Eternal spells, Archaic Infusion, and a large set of building pieces. We have grouped every item that uses it by category below, based on the Enshrouded Database.
| Category | Items that use Magma Gel | Number of items |
|---|---|---|
| Building pieces | Ancient Beacon Block, plus 15 decorative pieces such as A Distant Star, Convergence, Royal Temper, and Violet Grove | 16 |
| Armor | Ashwind Strider Gloves, Crestflame Gloves, Emberguard Gloves, Flame Arcanist Gloves, Lifelock Gloves, Vorgoth’s Soulbound Gloves, Ashwind Strider Pants, Crestflame Pants, Emberguard Pants, Sky Specter Boots, Flame Arcanist Hat, Sky Specter Helmet, Vorgoth’s Soulbound Crown | 13 |
| Spells | Eternal Fire Totem II, Fireball IV, Eternal Arc Lightning II, Eternal Ball Lightning I, Eternal Shock Totem, Eternal Shock Wisp II | 6 |
| Weapons and ammo | Eternal Ember Arrow III, Golden Recruit Axe, Lupa’s Scalper, Wailing Blade | 4 |
| Materials | Archaic Infusion | 1 |
The hidden cost is Archaic Infusion, which needs 10 Magma Gel per craft and makes 5. Any recipe that calls for Archaic Infusion needs more Magma Gel on top of its listed amount.

Put Your Magma Gel to Work in Cinder’s Cradle
Run the Ancient Gate mine from the first elevator down to the altar, collect every drop, and fast travel back whenever you need another stack.
Take your first batch to the Infusion Altar and craft Archaic Infusion, then spend it on the Cinder’s Cradle gear and spells you are working toward. Once Land of the Sky Islands is done, move on to its follow-up quest, Activating the Gate to the Stars, to keep pushing through Cinder’s Cradle.
FAQs
Can you find Magma Gel outside Cinder’s Cradle in Enshrouded?
Not reliably, since MetaForge’s database lists Magma Gel as gathered mainly in Cinder’s Cradle and names no source in Embervale’s earlier regions. Reaching Cinder’s Cradle requires the new Flame level added in the 1.0 update, so prioritize Flame upgrades if your crafting plans depend on Magma Gel.
What is Magma Gel in Enshrouded?
Magma Gel is a Common plant material in Enshrouded that the in-game description calls a thick gel that sets harder than it looks. The description adds that Magma Gel can coat most surfaces for protection and generates its own heat, matching its use in Flame Arcanist and Crestflame armor.
What else does Archaic Infusion need besides Magma Gel?
Archaic Infusion needs 4 Sparkling Dust, 6 Archaic Essence VII, 1 Archaic Core, and 5 Archaic Shards alongside 10 Magma Gel, crafted at the Infusion Altar for 5 Archaic Infusion. Gather each ingredient before farming Magma Gel, because missing one blocks the craft regardless of how much gel you hold.
Why can’t you craft Eternal spells with enough Magma Gel?
Some Eternal spells in Enshrouded are locked behind progression, not just materials, so holding enough Magma Gel does not unlock the recipe. Eternal Arc Lightning II, for example, only becomes craftable at the Alchemist after you rescue Balthazar and obtain Archaic Infusion, so complete those steps first.
Can you farm Magma Gel on an Enshrouded early access save?
Yes, Keen Games confirmed in its launch FAQ that Enshrouded Early Access saves work in 1.0 after converting to a new format, so you can farm Magma Gel without starting a fresh world. Keen Games still recommends starting over, citing many improvements to the world and the game’s opening hours.
