Build Overview

The Assassin Runner Shell is a powerful archetype that utilizes smokescreens and stealth mechanics. Our Assassin Smoke Core build helps to further increase the strength of the Assassin’s natural tools. This particular build focuses on Smoke duration, more opportunities to Shroud, but also gain buffs when engaging with the main mechanics of the Runner. Also, it is important to note this is a beginner build. As a result, we have ensured early accessibility to this build with Enhanced tier Cores.

How to play the Assassin Smoke Core build

As this is a beginner friendly build, the idea behind it is simple. You’ll want to utilize the basic, core kit of the Assassin. This means you’ll look to play from a higher position than other players if you get into PVP combat. Assassin has the Trait “Shadow Dive”, which allows you to pop a smoke disc mid-air to negate fall damage and provide visual cover. However, moving into smokes as an Assassin activates your Shroud automatically. Utilizing your Shadow Dive, and stringing along your “Active Camo” Tactical Skill and Smokescreen, you’ll constantly be able to avoid players, reposition, and hit from unexpected angles. It is also important to mention that entering a smoke immediately drops UESC aggro in PVE.

The BR33 Volley Rifle & Bully SMG are fantastic early game combos as they’re fairly obtainable but also very powerful. However, if you can get your hands on a Combat Shotgun, we recommend running that as a secondary – it’s very potent with stealth gameplay.

Core usage

The cores of choice in this build, Ghost Protocol and Breathing Space assist your gameplay further. They achieve this by increasing the duration of your smokes and giving you weapon handling benefits while you’re in them. As a result, dipping in and out of smoke allows you a lot of opportunities to reload, stealth up and go again.

Other tips

The Assassin’s “Shroud” Trait means that Assassin can enter stealth by walking inside any smoke. As a result, Smoke Grenades further this gameplay effect, making you very difficult to track. Each Implant chosen assists the core build further by increasing strong stats like Self-Repair Speed and Melee Attack Damage. Using a knife with Assassin is very powerful, two heavy attacks from a knife can kill most players and easily deals with UESC.
