How to Craft Cursed Leather in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
You can craft Cursed Leather by combining two pieces of Draconic Leather with one Cursed Essence at any standard tannery. If you have been playing for a while, you probably already have a decent stockpile of Draconic Leather taking up bank space. The real bottleneck for this recipe is the Cursed Essence, which requires hunting down demonic creatures like Hellrats and Hellhounds. Thankfully, it is one of the cheapest materials to gather for the newer armor and weapons, provided you know the right route through the Garrison.
Farming the Garrison for Cursed Materials
To get your hands on Cursed Essence, you need to collect small ash piles or ash pile bags, which are part of the loot table for demonic mobs. The Garrison is the most reliable place to farm these creatures because the spawn density is quite high. I highly recommend packing a few Wardstones before you make this trip. Wardstones allow you to refill your armor mid-run, giving you a buffer in case you miss a block or get cornered by some of the heavier-hitting enemies in the fort.

The Standard Route: Knights and Hellrats
Starting at the Wizard, bypass the main area and take the left entrance into the fort. You will sometimes see a mob sitting by the fire here, but it takes 3 in-game days to respawn. Move along the right side of the room to take out the sniper positioned at the back. From there, head up both flights of stairs.

You will encounter two knights sitting by a fireplace. Take them out carefully, as their attacks hit surprisingly hard.

Once they are dealt with, continue straight and take the path to the left. This brings you to your primary farming spot: a room containing three to four Hellrats and a single Dark Knight. The Hellrats are incredibly easy to kill and shouldn’t pose a threat. Each one drops a bag containing a small ash pile, but keep in mind that the drop rate for Cursed Essence from these bags isn’t guaranteed. Opening four bags might only yield three essences, so you will likely need to run this loop a few times.

The Dangerous Route: Hellhounds and the Demon Gate
If you want to speed up your farming and don’t mind a bit of risk, you can push further into the Garrison. The room directly past the Hellrat farming spot is filled with Hellhounds. I strongly advise against rushing into this room unless your gear is well-upgraded. If you are under-geared, try to bait them out one by one into the hallway.

For those who are confident in their combat stats, the underground sections leading toward the Demon Gate are packed with additional Hellhounds and Hellrats. It is a much faster way to fill your inventory with ash piles, but a single mistake down there can easily ruin the run.

Crafting at the Tannery
Once you have collected a satisfactory amount of Cursed Essence and retrieved your Draconic Leather from storage, head to the nearest tannery. The crafting interface is simple. Place your materials into the slots, keeping the ratio of 2 Draconic Leather to 1 Cursed Essence in mind. Process the materials, and you will have your Cursed Leather ready to be turned into the latest tier of gear.
