Where to Find Silver in Subnautica 2
Finding Silver early in Subnautica 2 is essential for crafting crucial survival gear, and fortunately, there is a massive cave full of it just a short trip north from your starting Lifepod. As someone who absolutely dreads having to make multiple trips for a single crafting ingredient, finding a reliable, dense farming spot like this early on is a huge relief.

Essential Equipment Requiring Silver
You are going to need a decent stockpile of silver right out of the gate. I highly recommend grabbing as much as you can hold so you don’t have to keep leaving the quiet comfort of your base to hunt for more. Silver is the primary ingredient for three very important early-game items:
- Standard Air Tank: This increases the amount of time you can dive before needing to surface. I cannot overstate how important this is; running out of air because you got distracted by organizing your inventory underwater is highly inconvenient.
- The Wakemaker: These arm attachments significantly increase your movement speed in the water. Moving slowly across open stretches of water is tedious, and this upgrade makes exploring much more efficient.
- Wiring Kits: You will need wiring kits for a variety of base-building and crafting recipes down the line, so having a healthy reserve of silver ready in your lockers is just practical planning.
The Route to the Silver Cave
Navigating to the cave is relatively straightforward if you know the visual landmarks to look for.
- Start at your Lifepod and orient your compass directly North.
- Swim forward until you see a large coral structure straight ahead. If you look to your right here, you should also notice a small outpost and a glowing plant structure that is used for gathering DNA adaptations.
- Continue past the main coral structure and aim toward a distinct mushroom-shaped rock situated on the right side.
- Keep your eyes peeled for a cluster of hanging plants. Once you see those hanging plants, you have found the entrance.
Farming the Cave Safely
Once you find the entrance by the hanging plants, swim straight down into the cave. The sheer volume of silver down here is impressive. In fact, there is so much of it that your inventory will fill up almost immediately.
I highly recommend bringing a portable storage container with you to help carry more raw materials back. Even with the extra storage, you will likely need to make a few trips to clear the place out. The cave extends quite deep and houses several other necessary resources alongside the silver, making it one of the most efficient early-game farming locations available. Just remember to keep a close eye on your oxygen meter while you are chipping away at the deposits in the deep sections.
