Where to Find Rusted Gear in Arc Raiders
Your best bet to find Rusted Gear in Arc Raiders is Cars and any searchable container within an Industrial Area. Both Blue Gate and Spaceport maps have a significantly better chance of spawning Rusted Gears instead of Rusted Tools in their shared loot pools. The spawns are quite random, so keep searching Vehicles (Cars, Busses, Trucks) and Breach and Search containers in Industrial Areas on higher-difficulty maps!
Rusted Gears in ARC Raiders – Best Locations to Check
As you start diving into the mid-game in ARC Raiders, you’ll hit a common roadblock: Upgrading your Gunsmith Bench to Level 3. You will need 3 Rusted Gears, 5 Advanced Mechanical Components and 4 Sentinel Firing Cores. Rusted Gear in ARC Raiders is an elusive but crucial component to your progression.

Unlike common materials, Rusted Gears are a rare spawn in specific loot pools, and many players are left wondering where to even begin their search.
The trick is that Rusted Gears share the same spawn points as the much more common Rusted Tools. The key isn’t just knowing where to look, but knowing where to look to increase your odds. This guide will show you the best maps and locations to farm for this elusive material.
Recommended Preparation for Farming Rusted Gears
This is a pure loot run, so your loadout should be focused on efficiency and security.
- Use Safe Pockets: Rusted Gears are rare. The last thing you want is to finally find one and then lose it to another Raider. Make sure you use a custom loadout that includes Safe Pockets.
- Bring a Large Backpack: You’ll be looting a lot of containers. A larger backpack ensures you can carry out not just the Gears you find, but all the other valuable materials you’ll get along the way. You’ll be able to hit more loot spots before having to go back to the extract.
- Check Your Map: Use our Interactive Maps to pinpoint the “Industrial Areas” on each map, as these are your primary targets.
Step 1: The Farming Strategy – Higher Difficulty Maps
You can technically find Rusted Gears on any map, but your time is better spent elsewhere. On lower-difficulty maps like Dam Battlegrounds, the loot containers in industrial zones will almost always give you Rusted Tools. To improve your chances, you need to head to the higher-difficulty maps.
, While you’ll still find plenty of Rusted Tools, the odds of getting the rare drop you’re looking for are much higher. This is a pure numbers game, so be prepared to grind, but this is how you tip the scales in your favor.
Step 2: Best Locations to Find Rusted Gears
Your main targets are Cars and any searchable container within an Industrial Area. While Blue Gate is a good option, the most consistent farm is on Spaceport due to its high density of industrial buildings.
Prime Farming Route: Spaceport
If you’re serious about farming Rusted Gears, the Spaceport is your best bet. Focus your runs on these two key buildings:
- The Rocket Assembly Building: This is a top-tier loot spot. Head inside and look for the Red Lockers. Players report that these lockers not only have a chance to drop Rusted Gears, but also frequently contain Epic (purple) weapon materials. This makes the run extremely valuable even if you don’t get the Gears you need.
- Vehicle Maintenance Building: This building is another hotspot. Scour the area and loot every searchable container and ground spawn.
Secondary Location: Blue Gate
If you’re finding Spaceport too contested, Blue Gate is a solid alternative. The map has several industrial compounds and plenty of rusted-out Cars to loot. Check all toolboxes, lockers, and vehicle trunks in these areas.
Specifically an underground parking lot slightly South of Warehouse Complex has been previously reported by players to contain Cars with Rusted Gears inside. Here’s the the entrance to that parking lot on our Blue Gate Interactive Map:
Extra tip from the Arc Raiders Metaforge community: The Rusted Gears in Arc Raiders can sometimes be found in the back of the Busses – check some of those as you’re exploring the maps.
Step 3: Extract and Store Your Rusted Gear in Arc Raiders Stash
Once you’ve finally found a Rusted Gear (or two, if you’re lucky!), don’t get greedy! This is one of the rarest basic materials in the game. Head to the nearest extraction point and leave safely. Remember, if your Gears are in your Safe Pocket, they will remain secure even if you’re eliminated before extraction.
Return to your Hideout in Speranza to store the Gears in your stash and save them for that critical workbench upgrade. Good hunting, Raider!
