Where to Sell a Gold Bar in Crimson Desert
If you’re wondering where to sell a gold bar in Crimson Desert, the short answer is: don’t sell it to a merchant. Regular merchants will only give you 190 silver for a Gold Bar, which is a terrible deal. Instead, take your gold bars to any Bank in Pywel, where you can exchange them for 500 silver each – nearly three times the merchant price. That’s a difference of 310 silver per bar, and it adds up fast. Even better, you can invest your gold bars at the bank for passive income that keeps paying out for the rest of the game. Below, we’ll cover every bank location, where to find gold bars, and why the bank should always be your first stop. For more money-making strategies, check out our Early Money Guide on MetaForge.

Where to Sell a Gold Bar in Crimson Desert – Bank vs. Merchant
You technically can sell a gold bar in Crimson Desert to any regular merchant you come across, but you absolutely shouldn’t. Merchants pay 190 silver per gold bar. Banks pay 500 silver. That’s not a small markup – it’s more than double. Every time you sell a gold bar to a vendor instead of exchanging it at a bank, you’re throwing away 310 silver.

To exchange a gold bar at the bank, just walk in, speak to the banker, and choose the option to exchange 1 Gold Bar for 500 Silver. It’s instant. You can also go the other direction and buy gold bars from the bank for 500 silver each if you need them for investing later.

But here’s the thing – even exchanging for a flat 500 silver isn’t the best play. If you’re willing to set up a bank account (costs a one-time fee of 100 silver for a Personal Strongbox Permit), you can invest your gold bars instead. The bank offers three investment tiers – Low Risk, Medium Risk, and High Risk – and your returns are calculated roughly every three in-game days. High Risk can yield 50-55% returns per cycle, and since the outcome is rolled fresh each time you load a save, you can save-scum to guarantee profits every single time. So instead of getting 500 silver once, you can keep your gold bar working for you indefinitely.
Bottom line: never sell gold bars to merchants. Always use a bank. And if you can afford the 100 silver account fee, invest instead of cashing out.
Crimson Desert Bank Locations
There are four banks in Crimson Desert, one in each major settlement across Pywel. The good news is that all four share the same account and investment pool, so once you pay the 100 silver for your Personal Strongbox Permit at one location, it works everywhere. You don’t need to register at each bank separately. You can find banks in the following settlements:
- Hernand – Located on the north side of town, just below the castle entrance. The banker here is named Grover. This is the first bank you’ll encounter and the one you’ll use the most during the early game. It’s accessible as soon as you arrive in Hernand in Chapter 1.
- Demeniss – Found in the capital city of the Demeniss region. Note that parts of Demeniss may be hostile depending on your story progress, so keep that in mind when planning a visit.
- Delesyia – Located in the city of Delesyia, the most technologically advanced region in Pywel. You’ll reach this area as you progress through the mid-to-late story chapters.
- Pailune – Situated in the northern region’s main settlement. Pailune requires liberation during Chapter 7 before full services become available, so you may need to progress the story before this bank is accessible.

For most players, the Hernand Bank is the safest and most convenient choice. You unlock Abyss Nexus fast travel points early in the game, and there’s one right near Hernand, which means you can always teleport back to cash in or manage your investments no matter where you are in Pywel. Look for the “?” icon on the Environment tab of your map to find any bank in a major settlement. You can also track bank locations on our Interactive Map.
Crimson Desert Gold Bar Locations
Now that you know where to sell a gold bar in Crimson Desert (the bank, always the bank), you’ll want to know where to actually find them. Gold bars are rare, but there are several reliable ways to get your hands on them.
1. Lioncrest Manor Fireplace (Hernand). This is the easiest gold bar to grab early on. Lioncrest Manor sits just northwest of Hernand’s main square (marked as House Alfonso on the map). Guards block the front door, but you can climb around the back and enter through a second-floor window. Head downstairs to the fireplace, equip your Mask, and steal the gold bar hidden inside. You will almost certainly get caught (which means a fine and losing your mask), but you keep the gold bar no matter what. This gold bar respawns every few in-game days, making it a repeatable source of income. Complete Bruna’s Request first to clear out some of the NPCs inside the manor and make the steal easier. For the full step-by-step, check out our Gold Bar Early Money Guide.

2. Pickpocketing Nobles at Demeniss Wildlife Park. This is the best repeatable farming method in the game. Travel to Demeniss Wildlife Park, south of the capital city, where you’ll find a large gathering of wealthy nobles wandering around in animal costumes. Equip your lantern and scan their pockets with L1/LB – you’re looking for a distinct ingot-shaped outline. When you spot a noble carrying a gold bar, put on your mask, bump into them, and pickpocket. It takes patience (you may need to scan 40-60 NPCs before finding a target), but each successful steal is worth 500 silver at the bank. If you’ve completed the House Serkis questline and have the Great Thief Gloves, you get one completely undetected steal on a cooldown, which makes this way less risky.

3. Spire of Insight Gold Bar Recipe. South of Hernand past Pororin Village in the Steel Mountains, you’ll find the Spire of Insight. Solve the four riddles inside and you’ll unlock the Alchemy Recipe: Gold Bar, which lets you craft gold bars from raw materials. The basic Witch recipe requires 3x Brimstone, 3x Mercury, and 10x Silver Ore. There’s also a refined recipe that uses 3x Gold Ore and 1x Golden Apple. Take the recipe to any Witch’s hideout to craft – the closest one to Hernand is Shadow’s Whisper Cave to the north.
4. Gold Vein Map from Karin Quarry. Complete the House Roberts quest chain in Hernand and defeat the Marni Excavator boss at Karin Quarry. The boss drops a Gold Vein Map that reveals 10 caves across Pywel containing Gold Ore deposits. Mine the ore, then craft gold bars using the recipe from the Spire of Insight. This is the most scalable long-term source since the ore veins replenish over time.

5. Other Sources. Keep an eye out for the Treasure Trader Goblin, a rare roaming NPC that carries a chest containing one gold bar – chase it down when you spot it. You can also buy gold bars directly from any banker for 500 silver each, or craft them at a Blacksmith using 100 Gold Ore (though this is the least efficient method). Once you have 500 silver saved up from investments or other earnings, buying bars from the bank and reinvesting them is a solid way to compound your wealth.
