Finding Gold Coins Quest in Enshrouded
The Finding Gold Coins quest is given by the Carpenter and takes you into one of Veilwater Basin’s underwater temple structures. Before attempting this quest, it is strongly recommended that you complete the Born Swimmer quest to unlock the Swimfins, as the 30% swim sprint boost makes this dungeon significantly easier to clear without drowning. Once equipped and ready, speak to the Carpenter at your base to begin the quest and prepare to head toward Veilwater Basin.
Step 1 – Start the Quest With the Carpenter
Begin by talking to the Carpenter, who will explain that he needs a stash of old Gold Coins hidden deep inside a submerged temple in Veilwater Basin. Accept the quest, make sure your Swimfins are equipped, bring food or stamina buffs if needed, and prepare for a lengthy underwater segment requiring careful movement and awareness of traps.
Step 2 – Travel to Veilwater Basin Spire
Head to the Veilwater Basin Spire, which serves as the closest fast-travel point to the quest area. From the top of the spire, face southeast toward the stone temple structure visible on the cliffs. Glide toward the Drak’Dal temple and try to land on the same elevated area near the locked exit door, as this platform will eventually become your way out once the quest is nearly complete.
From here, turn around and locate the staircase that leads down into the temple interior.
Step 3 – Descend Into the Flooded Temple
Walk down the staircase until you reach the first major pool of water. Drink water or a stamina potion if needed, then enter the pool and swim through the tunnel that leads deeper inside.
When you emerge on the other side, the first major hazards become clear: a dart trap directly ahead and, more importantly, the Gold Chest on the floor in front of you.
DO NOT interact with this chest under any circumstances—it will instantly flood the entire room, preventing you from accessing the required air pockets later and making the quest impossible without dying and resetting.
Walk past the chest and approach the large sealed door. This door requires three switches to unlock, all of which are hidden in underwater side passages.
Step 4 – Press the First Underwater Switch
From the door, turn left and dive into the water. Swim forward into the small chamber and locate the first button mounted on the wall.
Press it, then turn around immediately and swim back the same way you entered, resurfacing for air. This confirms your first switch has been activated.
Step 5 – Reach the Second Switch and Air Pocket
Once your stamina and oxygen are full again, swim to the opposite side of the room and dive down. Continue forward until you see a small entrance on your right. Swim into this tunnel to find the second button.
Press it, then swim back out of the tunnel and turn right to reach the small air pocket tucked along the wall. This air pocket is only accessible if you did not trigger the chest earlier; if the room had filled with water, reaching this area would be impossible. Use the pocket to refill your stamina and oxygen safely.
Step 6 – Activate the Third Switch and Collect the Drag Relief
While standing in the air pocket, look around and you’ll notice the third button nearby. Swim over, press the final button. Turn around and look for a small opening, inside is a Drak Relief II item. This item contributes to the hidden “Temples” completion progress but is not required for the coins themselves.
Collect it, now its time to go back the way you came. Use the same air pocket to fully recover, then swim all the way back to the main sealed door, which should now be open thanks to all three switches being activated.
Step 7 – Enter the Unlocked Chamber and Reach the Upper Room
Enter the newly opened doorway and climb the metal fencing mounted along the wall, making your way into the next room.
Before going any farther, look up toward the ceiling and you will see a button. Shoot this button with a bow to unlock the final exit door at the top of the temple. If you possess a Drake Soulward Flask, you can also read the note nearby for additional lore. Continue forward and fight the Drak Guard.
Step 8 – Mine the Gold Coins and Claim the Reward
Just before exiting the building, look along the right-hand wall for a pile of Gold Coins scattered on the floor. Approach them and use your pickaxe to break the pile apart. This yields the required Gold Coins, along with Drake Temple Roof Blocks and the associated crafting recipe. Gathering these coins completes the Carpenter’s objective and updates the quest.
Before leaving, look to the side of the room for a broken water drain. Crawl through it to reach a small hidden space containing an extra chest. Loot it for bonus items, then return to the exit door.
Step outside and the quest will complete.
