How to Complete the Beast in the Sand Quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
You can complete the Beast in the Sand quest by following the Dearg Due through the sandstorm south of the Moon Garou camp and giving one water to Efina. This quest is part of the Umbral Sands region update, which I actually think is a pretty solid addition to the game. The tracking process is easier than it seems, but you just need to make sure you bring the right item with you before you leave the camp. I have wasted time running back and forth because I forgot a basic requirement before, so it is best to prepare beforehand.
Preparing for the Sandstorm Tracking
Before you head out to find the Dearg Due, you need to check your inventory. The final step of this quest requires you to hand over one water. If you do not have it on you when you reach the end of the tracking route, you will be stuck and have to return to camp to get it.
Once you have your water ready, hop onto your magic carpet. I personally find the magic carpet mount to be a nice touch for the desert areas, even if hovering over the dunes takes a minute to get used to. Head out of the cave and start traveling directly south into the sandstorm.
Locating the Dearg Due
As you move further south into the storm, the visibility drops, but you will eventually start hearing the howls of the Dearg Due. The audio cue is your primary signal that you are getting close. Once you spot it through the sand, simply ride up to the creature to trigger the next step of the quest.
From here, you just need to follow the Dearg Due to its next location. It moves at a manageable pace, so you shouldn’t have much trouble keeping up on your mount.
The Final Destination and Efina
After the Dearg Due stops at the second location, you are almost done. Keep heading east from that spot until you find an NPC named Efina. This is where that water you brought comes in. Speak to Efina and give her the water to progress the story. It is a quiet little moment in the questline, which I appreciate compared to the constant combat required in other areas of Ashenfall.
Claiming Your Quest Rewards
With the water delivered, it is time to head back to the Moon Garou camp. You will need to speak to the quest giver to tell Efina’s story and finish things up. Hand in the quest, and you will be rewarded with some Garou chit as well as a boost to your reputation with the Moon Garou. It is a short quest, but the reputation gain is definitely worth the few minutes it takes to complete.
