How to Complete the Scaling Difficulties Quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
You can complete the Scaling Difficulties quest by locating two bodies and a scorched wall south-east of the camp, and then traveling further east to defeat the Red Dragon responsible for the damage. This quest is fairly straightforward, though the weather in the Umbral Sands can sometimes make finding the exact quest markers a bit annoying. The combat portion isn’t too heavy until the end, so you mainly just need to make sure you have your standard boss-fight consumables ready before you leave the safety of the camp.
Tracking the Scorched Wall and Missing Bodies
To get started, summon your magic carpet and head slightly south, and then east from the Moon Garou camp. You might run into a sandstorm while you are out here. If you do, visibility drops significantly, so you will need to pay close attention to the terrain to find the investigation spots.

Locating the Two Bodies
When you arrive at the general map marker, your first objective is to locate two bodies lying in the sand. You will find the first body surrounded by a few bug enemies. You have to take these bugs out before the game lets you interact with the body, so just clear the area quickly.

Once you have examined the first body, turn around. The second body is located basically directly opposite the first one. There will be another small group of enemies guarding it. Take them out, interact with the second body, and move on to the next step.

Inspecting the Scorched Wall
After checking both bodies, head slightly north from your current position. You are looking for a rock wall with a massive, blackened scorch mark on it. It is hard to miss if the sandstorm has cleared up. Walk up to the wall and interact with it. Your character will figure out what caused the blast, which updates your quest log and points you toward the actual threat.

Defeating the Red Dragon
The scorch mark was caused by a Red Dragon, and you need to head further east to find it. Before you actually engage the boss, open your inventory and use your food, drinks, and stat-boosting potions.

The fight itself isn’t incredibly difficult if you stay calm. The easiest method is to just keep circling the dragon, which allows you to naturally avoid most of its standard forward-facing attacks. You can block if you prefer, but dodging uses less stamina if your timing is decent. There are two specific attacks you need to watch out for: a very wide Area of Effect (AoE) wing attack that hits hard if you are caught in the radius, and the standard dragon fire breath. I found it easiest to just fight him near one of the large cacti in the area. When he winds up for the fire breath, you can simply step behind the cactus to break his line of sight and avoid the damage completely.

Returning for Your Rewards
Keep chipping away at his health while circling and using the cactus for cover until he drops. Once the dragon is dead, you can get back on your carpet and fly back to the camp. Hand the quest in to the NPC to receive your Garou chits and another chunk of reputation with the Moon Garou tribe.
