How to Get the Ladybug Buggy in Grounded 2 (Toxic Tangle)
The Ladybug Buggy is a rideable mount introduced in the Toxic Tangle update for Grounded 2. It allows you to clear corrosive areas using its water cannon and is required for unlocking certain secrets and hidden weapons. To obtain it, you must first unlock the Ladybug Nest recipe by collecting the Fairy Turbo Optical Disk and gathering several mid-to-late-game resources.
How to Unlock the Ladybug Buggy
Step 1: Unlock Tier 3 Omni Tools
Before you begin, you must have both Tier 3 Omni tools unlocked.
- Tier 3 Omni Axe
- Tier 3 Omni Hammer
The Tier 3 Omni Axe is unlocked by obtaining three Black Ant Mandibles and two Praying Mantis Claws. This allows you to craft gunpowder.
Once you can craft gunpowder, you will need three gunpowder and one Potato Beetle Head to unlock the Tier 3 Omni Hammer.

Step 2: Start at the Greenhouse Ranger Outpost
Begin at the Greenhouse Ranger Outpost.
From here, you will be heading toward the Fairy Garden House, located above the cabbage patch area. Using the interactive Grounded 2 map can help you stay oriented as you move through this region.
It is strongly recommended to do this section during the main story quest, as you are required to travel through this area anyway. Doing so prevents unnecessary backtracking.

Step 3: Travel to the Hammer POI and Fairy Garden House
From the outpost, mount your buggy and follow the hose pipe leading toward the Hammer POI.

Stay on the hose pipe and continue following it until you reach the Fairy Garden House in the distance.
As you travel through this area, keep an eye out for Flower Petals. You will need a total of 5, and 2 can commonly spawn on the shoe nearby. Flower Petals respawn regularly, so collecting them now saves a return trip later.

Step 4: Collect the Fairy Turbo Optical Disk
Enter the Fairy Garden House and head down through the tunnel into the Candy Processing Facility.

Inside, you will encounter a Rust Beetle. Run past it, take a left, and proceed through the doors while avoiding the corrosive pools on the floor.

In the next room, you will find the Fairy Turbo Optical Disk on a desk. Pick it up, then insert it into the nearby Ranger Station.

Doing this grants 2,000 Raw Science and unlocks the Ladybug Nest recipe, which is required to hatch the Ladybug Buggy.

Step 5: Gather Ladybug Nest Materials
To craft the Ladybug Nest, you will need the following materials:
- 5 Flower Petals
- 6 Chrysalis Leather
- 3 Weed Stems
- 5 Lint Rope
You should already have the Flower Petals if you collected them earlier. Now we will arrive at the cabbage patch when we leave the Candy Processing Facility.

Step 6: Collect Chrysalis Hide and Black Ant Parts
Outside near the cabbage patch, look for Butterfly Chrysalises hanging from plants.
Hit or Shoot them down then break them open using your Tier 3 Omni Hammer to collect Chrysalis Hide. You will need 9 x Chrysalis Hide in total.

While in this area, also collect 4 x Black Ant Parts by defeating Black Ants nearby. These are commonly found around the cabbage patch.

Step 7: Collect Lint
Use your resource scanner to locate Lint, which can be found on the nearby compost bag.
Call your Orb Weaver Buggy to help reach the compost bag, then use your Tier 3 Omni Axe to chop the lint free. You will need a total of 5 x lint.

At this stage, you are only collecting lint. You will not be able to process it yet until it has been analyzed.
Step 8: Analyze Materials and Collect a Ladybug Egg
Return to the Candy Processing Facility inside the Fairy Garden House and use the Research Resource Analyzer.
Analyze both Chrysalis Hide and Lint. This unlocks the crafting recipes for Chrysalis Leather and Lint Rope.

Once the materials are analyzed, head back outside to the cabbage patch area.
Ladybug Eggs spawn on the ground around the cabbage patch. If no eggs appear, sleep through the night and check again.
It is highly recommended to call your Red Soldier Ant before picking up the egg. This allows you to carry the egg while mounted and escape quickly, as nearby Ladybugs will become aggressive.
Grab the egg and return to your base immediately.

Step 9: Process Materials Before Hatching
After returning the Ladybug Egg to your base, you cannot place it into the Hatchery just yet.

First, you need to process your materials to meet the Ladybug Nest requirements.
Now that the materials have been analyzed, process them to meet the Ladybug Nest requirements.
Turn Chrysalis Hide into Chrysalis Leather using one of the following methods:
- Chrysalis Hide into Chrysalis Leather using a Jerky Rack (1:1 ratio)
- Chrysalis Hide into Chrysalis Leather using a Workbench (3:1 ratio, instant craft)

Next, convert Lint into Lint Rope using a Spinning Wheel:
- Lint into Lint Rope using a Spinning Wheel (1:1 ratio)

You will need a total of 6 Chrysalis Leather and 5 Lint Rope.

Step 10: Hatch the Ladybug Buggy
Once all materials are ready, place the Ladybug Egg into the Hatchery.
Next, place down the Ladybug Nest nearby. This allows you to safely store and swap your Ladybug Buggy when switching between buggies later on.

After placing both, wait approximately 12 in-game hours for the egg to hatch. You can speed this up by sleeping.
When the timer completes, interact with the Hatchery to hatch and claim your Ladybug Buggy.

Using the Ladybug Buggy
The Ladybug Buggy comes equipped with a water cannon capable of clearing corrosive patches found throughout the Toxic Tangle area.
It holds up to 120 water and can be refilled at any water source.
While not strictly required for completing the main story, the Ladybug Buggy is extremely useful for exploration and unlocking hidden content.
