Grounded 2

It appears Obsidian Entertainment has officially unveiled the Grounded 2 Roadmap, providing a glimpse into the future of the game. For those interested in the specifics, the roadmap graphic can be viewed on their official X (formerly Twitter) account: https://x.com/GroundedTheGame/status/1950266882868601055/photo/1. It confirms that there are plans for quite a few additions to the shrunken world.

The Grounded 2 Roadmap

One of the more notable inclusions in the Grounded 2 roadmap is the mention of a “Park Boss.” While details are, as expected, limited, it stands to reason that this could be a significant, perhaps even climactic, encounter for players navigating the new Brookhollow Park. Given the scale of some of the creatures encountered in the original Grounded, a “Park Boss” suggests something substantial that will likely require a coordinated effort to overcome, which aligns with the game’s co-op nature.

Of course, surviving against larger threats will necessitate better equipment. The roadmap indicates the arrival of “New Weapons and Armor.” This is a fairly standard but welcome addition, as new gear often allows for different playstyles and strategies when facing the various dangers of the overgrown environment. It’s always good to have more options.

Additional Buggies (Mounts) Coming Soon

The concept of “Ladybug Buggy” and “Water Buggies (Mounts)” is also present on the roadmap. The first Grounded introduced the ability to ride some insects, and expanding on this with a Ladybug, and particularly “Water Buggies,” implies new traversal opportunities and perhaps exploration of aquatic areas. Given the scope of Brookhollow Park, having more ways to move around efficiently seems like a practical improvement. The mention of “Watery Bases,” which we suspect means underwater bases, also supports this idea of expanding into the aquatic domain. Building a base that’s submerged could present some interesting design challenges and defensive possibilities.

Grounded 2 Roadmap

Furthermore, the roadmap mentions new creatures: “Crickets and Earwigs.” These additions suggest a wider variety of encounters for players. Crickets could be a source of resources or a new threat, while earwigs, depending on their behavior in the game, could introduce unique challenges or dynamics to the ecosystem. It’s always a good thing when the world feels more populated and alive.

Overall, the Grounded 2 roadmap lays out a path for continued development, with several planned features that should keep players engaged. The promise of new challenges, expanded exploration, and additional ways to interact with the environment seems to be a sensible direction for the game. We’ll be keeping an eye on these updates as they arrive.
