Where to Find the Gloom Skewer in Grounded 2

The Gloom Skewer is a powerful hidden spear located deep within the Toxic Anthill, one of the most hazardous underground areas in the game. Guarded by poisonous creatures and the terrifying Cockroach Queen, the weapon is tucked behind a breakable mushroom wall — making it a mid-game reward worth the risk.

You’ll also find the Toxic Anthill Optical Disk nearby, which unlocks valuable base-building upgrades at the Science Shop.

What You’ll Need Before You Go

• Tier 2 Omni Axe – Required to break the mushrooms blocking the weapon.
• Strong 1-Handed Weapon – The Roach Club is perfect for its damage and shield compatibility.
• Shield or Torch – For defense or visibility in the dark tunnels.
• Healing Items – Stock up on bandages, smoothies, or meals.
• Two or More Torches – The lower tunnels are pitch-black.
• (Optional)Gas Resistance Gear – Helpful, but not essential.

How to Enter the Toxic Anthill

1. Travel to the central area of the map, just south of the Picnic Table landmark.
2. Look for a green spray can embedded in the dirt — this marks the Toxic Anthill entrance.
3. Equip your torch and get ready for a fight.

Step-by-Step: Navigating the Anthill & Reaching the Cockroach Queen

Step 1: Enter the Toxic Tunnel

Enter the tunnel with your torch equipped and weapon ready.

Step 2: Watch for Soldier Ants

Move cautiously — Soldier Ants may appear early in the tunnel.

Step 3: Take the Left Path

At the first fork, take the left path. The tunnel will shift from red clay to a dark gray stone interior.

Step 4: Drop Near the Spray Can

Eventually, you’ll see a spray can partially submerged in toxic water. Drop down near it and head right.

Step 5: Encounter the Cockroach

A large cockroach roams this hallway. It’s non-hostile — be sure to PEEP it for your Creature Card and proceed.

Step 6: Avoid the Toxic Pools

You’ll enter a chamber with toxic water on both sides. Stick to the dry path and collect the Raw Science on the right.

Step 7: Cross the Gap

Jump over the toxic gap ahead to grab a second Raw Science orb on the opposite side.

Step 8: Enter the Boss Room

You’ve reached the Cockroach Queen’s chamber — this is where the Gloom Skewer is hidden.

Step 9: Save and Prepare

SAVE your game and PEEP the Queen before starting the battle.

Boss Fight: The Cockroach Queen (and Her Return)

• The Queen has no elemental weakness. Use a high-damage weapon like the Roach Club.
• Equip a shield to block and stagger her with perfect parries.
• After her first defeat, she will resurrect for a second round.
• Defeat her again to clear the chamber and unlock the loot.

Hidden Weapon Location: The Gloom Skewer

• After the fight, look to the left side of the chamber for a cluster of mushrooms.
• Loot the nearby corpse, then use your Tier 2 Omni Axe to break through the mushrooms.
• Inside the alcove, you’ll find the Gloom Skewer — a high-damage spear ideal for poison-themed builds.

Bonus: Toxic Anthill Optical Disk

• After grabbing the Gloom Skewer, turn around and look to the right side of the room.
• There’s another corpse with a faint pink glow beside it — this is where the Toxic Anthill Optical Disk is located.
• Loot the body to get:
  • Toxic Anthill Optical Disk
  • Weevil Nose ×1
  • Blueberry Bandage ×11

Science Shop Unlocks from the Disk

Turn the disk in at any Ranger Station to unlock:

• Fortified Bases – 2,000 Raw Science
• Acorn Stairs – 1,500 Raw Science
• Ladder – 1,000 Raw Science
• Teeny Terracotta – 1,000 Raw Science
