Where to Find the Toxic Anthill Optical Disk in Grounded 2

The Toxic Anthill Optical Disk is located deep within the gas-filled Toxic Anthill — a treacherous zone crawling with poisonous creatures and guarded by the formidable Cockroach Queen, a mid-game boss. You’ll find the disk next to a corpse in her chamber, alongside a powerful hidden weapon: the Gloom Skewer.

What You’ll Need Before You Go

• Tier 2 Axe upgrade on your Omni Tool (required to break mushrooms blocking the hidden weapon)
• Plenty of healing items (bandages, smoothies, meals)
• A strong one-handed weapon, such as the Roach Club (allows torch/shield use)
• One or Two torches — it’s pitch-black in the deeper tunnels
• Gas resistance gear (optional but helpful)

How to Enter the Toxic Anthill

1. Head to the central region of the map, near the Picnic Table landmark.
2. Just south of the table, look for a green spray can sticking out of the ground.
3. The Toxic Anthill entrance is directly next to the spray can — surrounded by mist and cracked dirt.

Step-by-Step: Navigating the Anthill & Reaching the Cockroach Queen

Step 1: Enter the Toxic Tunnel

Enter the tunnel with your torch equipped and weapon ready.

Step 2: Watch for Soldier Ants

Move cautiously — early enemies like Soldier Ants may appear.

Step 3: Take the Left Path at the Fork

At the first fork, take the left path. The tunnel will shift from reddish clay to dark gray stone.

Step 4: Drop Near the Spray Can and Go Right

You’ll come across another spray can, half-submerged in toxic water. Drop down near it and go right.

Step 5: Spot and PEEP the Giant Cockroach

You’ll encounter a large cockroach roaming. It’s not aggressive — PEEP it for your Creature Card and continue.

Step 6: Avoid the Toxic Pools

Enter a chamber with toxic water on both sides. Avoid standing in it, and grab the Raw Science on the right.

Step 7: Jump the Gap for More Raw Science

Jump across the gap to collect another Raw Science orb on the opposite side.

Step 8: Enter the Boss Room

You’ll now face the Cockroach Queen. This is the main boss room.

Step 9: Save & Scout the Queen

SAVE your game and PEEP the Queen before engaging in combat.

Boss Fight: Cockroach Queen (and Her Return)

• The Queen has no specific elemental weakness, so use high-damage weapons like the Roach Club.
• Equip a shield to block and stagger her with timed parries.
• After the first phase, she will resurrect — be ready with extra healing and stamina.
• Once defeated permanently, the chamber becomes safe to explore.

Hidden Item: The Gloom Skewer

• Look toward the cluster of mushrooms on the left side of the room.
• Loot the nearby corpse, then use your Tier 2 Axe to cut through the mushrooms.
• Behind them is a small alcove containing the Gloom Skewer, a powerful spear.

Toxic Anthill Optical Disk

• From the Gloom Skewer area, turn around and look to the left side of the chamber.
• You’ll spot another corpse glowing pink near some mushrooms.
• Loot the corpse to collect the Toxic Anthill Optical Disk (Optical Disk A), plus 1 Weevil Nose and 11 Blueberry Bandages.

Science Shop Unlocks from the Disk

Return the Optical Disk to any Ranger Station to unlock the following rewards:

• Fortified Bases – 2,000 Raw Science
• Acorn Stairs – 1,500 Raw Science
• Ladder – 1,000 Raw Science
• Teeny Terracotta – 1,000 Raw Science
