Grounded 2

The Pergola Optical Disc in Grounded 2 is found inside a bird’s nest at the top of a long vine, web, and power cable climb above the Pergola Ranger Station. The disc sits next to a dead body, near the broken bench swing, and doesn’t require any combat to reach.

The team here at MetaForge tested this climb on the current early access build, and the full route below skips every optional fight along the way.

How to Reach the Pergola Optical Disc

The full path is a single continuous climb with no branching detours, so once you start, follow the vines and webs in order until the nest comes into view. Start at the Pergola Ranger Station and follow this route:

  1. Position yourself at the station. Stand to the left of the broken bench swing, facing the Ranger Station’s door.
  2. Head to the first vine. Turn left, then take an immediate right up the hill toward the vine, and climb it.
  3. Take the left branch. At the top, follow the left-side vine, continue straight through a small gap, then bear left again along the next vine.
  4. Cross the first web. Take a right across the spider web onto a bench, and continue to the far end, where you may spot a Wolf Spider sleeping or roaming.
  5. Glide to the next vine. Jump off the end of the bench and glide down, then continue along this vine.
  6. Work through the gaps. Take a right through the next gap, then a left across another web, repeating this pattern across several more webs as you head left.
  7. Climb toward the power cable. Continue up until you reach the point where a power cable and a branch nearly touch.
  8. Ride the cable to the flower pot. Hop onto the cable, follow it, then drop down, turn around, and head to the nearby flower pot.
  9. Climb the leaf inside the pot. Inside the flower pot, look for a leaf leading back up to the power cable above, and climb it.
  10. Cross to the final vine. Go straight down the other side, turn right, then left twice to reach a vine caught in a web.
  11. Follow the vine to the nest. Stay on this vine until the bird’s nest comes into view, marking the end of the climb.
  12. Grab the disc. The Optical Disc sits next to a dead body in the center of the nest, near a Mosquito that may attack but can be ignored.

Checkpoints and Creatures Along the Route

Four creatures sit along this route, and here’s what to expect from each.

CreatureWhere you’ll encounter itRecommended action
Wolf SpiderOn the bench partway through the first web crossingSleeping or roaming, safe to bypass and continue to the end of the bench
Orb WeaverThroughout the journeyIgnore it and continue on the route.
Pincher EarwigSecond half of the climb before the pot plant.Jump over it and continue your journey.
MosquitoNear the bird’s nest at the end of the routeAttacks on approach but does not block the pickup, safe to ignore

If the Wolf Spider is roaming instead of sleeping when you reach the bench, keep going to the end and glide off rather than engaging it, since it isn’t aggressive by default at this checkpoint. If the Mosquito starts attacking near the nest, grab the disc first, since the attack doesn’t stop you from picking it up. Either way, keep moving toward the disc instead of stopping to fight.

What the Pergola Optical Disc Unlocks

Returning the disc to the Pergola Ranger Station unlocked the Hot Pouch Upgrade 2 and ziplines. Grounded 2 is still in early access and receives frequent content updates, so confirm in-game if a future update changes this reward.

Head back to the Ranger Station to claim it, then check your inventory for the new Hot Pouch capacity and zipline tool before setting off again.

Put Your New Ziplines to Work Across Brookhollow Park

With the Hot Pouch Upgrade 2 and ziplines unlocked, you can now cut travel time between Ranger Stations instead of climbing each one from scratch. Hop onto your Buggy at the nest’s edge and jump off to glide straight back down to ground level near the Ranger Station.

From here, put those same climbing skills to use at the next Ranger Station you find, since every one holds its own Optical Disc and its own reward waiting to be claimed.

FAQs

Does the Pergola Optical Disc respawn if you miss it?

No respawn has been confirmed for the Pergola Optical Disc in Grounded 2 on the current build, so grab it the moment you reach the nest rather than planning to come back later. This hasn’t been tested across multiple sessions, so treat it as a one-time pickup until proven otherwise.

Can a Buggy skip any part of the climb up to the nest?

No, the ascent from the Pergola Ranger Station to the nest runs entirely on vines, webs, and a power cable, with no branching route for a Buggy to shortcut, as shown on the Grounded 2 Interactive Map. It only becomes useful afterward, gliding you straight down from the nest’s edge.

Does fighting the Vault Spider give you anything worth stopping for?

No confirmed loot table exists for this specific Vault Spider encounter in the Grounded 2 Database, so fighting it isn’t necessary to reach the disc. Bypassing it on the bench is faster, and any materials gained should be treated as a bonus rather than a reason to stop.

Do you take fall damage if you slip off the vines or webs?

Whether slipping causes fall damage on this specific climb hasn’t been confirmed for the current build, so the safest habit is treating every high vine or web section like a real fall risk. Move carefully across the higher crossings rather than assuming a slip is harmless.

Is this route easier solo or in co-op?

Solo and co-op play out the same way on this climb, since it’s a single-file path along vines and webs with no group-specific shortcuts. A second player can watch for the Vault Spider or Mosquito while the other grabs the disc, though this hasn’t been tested in co-op.
