Where to Find the Bridge Aquatic Optical Disk in Grounded 2
The Bridge Aquatic Optical Disk in Grounded 2 sits on top of the broken bridge in Bridge Area, reached by heading along the pond wall from the barn. You climb straight onto the bridge itself to grab it, since the disk sits in the open air rather than underwater.
The team here at MetaForge tested this route directly and found it to be the quickest of the three Aquatic Optical Disks to reach, since it needs no diving gear and no combat to complete. No underwater diving is required, so you can head straight for the bridge without gearing up for the pond first.
What to Bring Before You Head Out
You do not need any specialized gear to collect this disk, which makes it a good first stop if you are still gearing up for the Abyss. A few things make the trip smoother, though.
- A buggy: Riding along the pond wall from the barn is faster than walking, and you will not need to dismount for most of the route.
- A basic weapon: You will not need to fight the guard on the bridge, but a handful of ticks nearby are worth clearing out first.
- Nothing underwater-specific: Since the disk sits on top of the bridge rather than in the pond, you can skip the Gill Tube and Fin Flops for this particular trip.
Patch 0.5.0.4 fixed a bug that stopped players from equipping a torch or shield while riding a buggy, along with a separate issue where backpacks would not float underwater.
If you want a visual reference before you head out, the Grounded 2 Interactive Map marks the barn, the pond wall, and the bridge itself. Map positions are estimates and may shift slightly as we update the map, so treat it as a general guide rather than an exact pin.

How to Reach the Bridge Aquatic Optical Disk
The route from the barn to the disk itself is short and mostly linear. Follow these steps in order.
- Leave the barn: Head along the pond wall toward the bridge area of Skunk Pond.
- Ride straight along the wall: If you are on a buggy, continue straight without needing to stop and fight anything along the way.
- Approach the bridge: Once you reach the bridge structure, head down toward it from the wall.
- Climb the wooden planks: Head up the wooden planks and move to the right along the top of the bridge.
- Cross the rope: Cross the rope on the right side of the structure to reach the next section of planks.
- Reach the final plank: Hop onto the plank where the disk and its guard are located.

Getting Past the Guard on the Bridge
A guard is stationed on the same plank as the disk. Into the Abyss added several new robotic enemies to the surrounding area, including CHOP.R., SAUC.R., and C.K.U. units, though you do not need to defeat the guard here to grab the disk. You can look up all three in the Grounded 2 Database if you want a closer look at what each one does.
There are also several ticks around this plank, and they get annoying fast if left alive while you are trying to maneuver. Clear the ticks first, then deal with the guard.
Stay on the right side of the plank, away from the guard’s position. It will either wander toward you and fall on its own, or you can bait it across the gap so it drops without a fight.
Once it is out of the way, pick up the disk and head to your nearest Ranger Outpost to turn it in.

What the Bridge Aquatic Optical Disk Unlocks at the Ranger Station
Loading the disk into a Ranger Station at any Ranger Outpost adds its unlocks to the Science Shop, where each one can be purchased separately with Raw Science. The table below breaks down exactly what this specific disk unlocks.
| Unlock | Raw Science cost | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Diving Suit Chestplate | 1,500 | Gear |
| Buoyant Foundation | 2,500 | Building |
| Trap Door | 1,500 | Building |
| Sign Set: Buccaneer | 3,000 | Sign Set |
The Diving Suit Chestplate is the piece most players are after, since it is part of the wider Diving Suit progression Obsidian built around underwater exploration in Into the Abyss. Buoyant Foundation and Trap Door are the two building pieces, and Sign Set: Buccaneer covers the decorative signage.
Head to your nearest Ranger Outpost with the disk in hand to add these to your Science Shop and start spending Raw Science on them.

What You can do After Grabbing the Bridge Disk
With the disk turned in, you can spend Raw Science on the Diving Suit Chestplate right away, then work through the two building pieces and the sign set as your stockpile allows.
From here, your next stop is either of the other two Aquatic Optical Disks, one inside Ominent’s Diving Station underwater and one higher up around Gnarly Bark. Grabbing those completes the rest of the Diving Suit set and gets you ready for a proper dive into the Abyss.

FAQs
What order should you collect the three Aquatic Optical Disks in?
There is no required order. Each Aquatic Optical Disk, Bridge, Pond, and Gnarly Bark, is a separate, standalone pickup with no prerequisite tied to the others. The Bridge disk is a reasonable one to start with, since it needs no diving gear or combat, but you can collect all three in whatever order suits your route.
Do you need the Toe Biter Buggy to reach the Bridge Aquatic Optical Disk?
No, any buggy works for this route, since it runs along the pond wall on land rather than through open water. The Toe Biter Buggy becomes useful once you start exploring the deeper, water-based parts of Skunk Pond, but it is not required just to reach this particular disk.
Do Science Shop unlocks from this disk apply to everyone in a co-op save?
Yes, in practice. Science Shop unlocks tied to key items like Optical Disks are attached to your save and its Ranger Outposts rather than to an individual character, so once one player loads the disk into a Ranger Station, the unlocks become available to the whole group from that Science Shop.
What enemies will you run into near the Bridge Aquatic Optical Disk?
Mostly just the guard on the final plank and a handful of ticks nearby. Into the Abyss did add new creatures around Skunk Pond, including the Toe Biter family, the Pond Jockey Swarm, and CHOP.R., SAUC.R., and C.K.U. robots, but most of these stay concentrated in and around the water rather than on the bridge route itself.
What happens if you fall off the bridge while going for the disk?
Falling off does not fail your run or block a retry. You will land in Skunk Pond below the structure and can swim or climb back up to the planks, though you may need to deal with ticks or other pond enemies again on your way back up.
